Has anyone had good results coloring, and also highlighting at home, over hair that was previously colored at the salon? I want to change my auburn hair to a rich brown ( my natural color is meduim to dark brown). Afterward, I want to apply copper/red highlights. Anyone have any advice on products, etc? Or is this too much of an undertaking to possibly do at home successfully?

Thanks!

I haven't done it over salon-colored hair, but I used one of those brush-on kits over a DIY dye job. It looked alright, except I painted too close to my roots. Thus, my virgin root area bleached quicker than my dyed hair and wound up a little lighter.
