well i m naturally have dirty blonde hair i been dying it with all shades of blonde over many years and whenever i do another color like red or brown just it's a matter of a month and i move to blonde area again , i really want to change i have an appointment tomorrow at my hair salon to dye my hair i want to go red but i m afraid that sonnest the color will fade i will dye it blonde again just i want to know is being blonde kind of addictive or something ? my hair now is light strawberry blonde with platinuim and caramel chuncky highlights i m thinking of going to something like chestnut reddish tone with some daring fire red low lights they say it would go fine with me i have hazel eyes with light bronze skin ( i m originally latin ) so i appreciate any advice or support please soon as possible cause i really need it

Red is a really difficult shade to keep from fading out. I've colored my hair red for years (natraully dirty blonde) and i swear by color-depositing shampoos and conditioners. Artec has a great line of hair DYES that are well-known for their reds and they have numerous shades of color-depositing 'poos and conditioners to compliment your new color. i used these for 3 years and always had great results. Now that i'm coloring my own hair, Matrix has a color-depositing conditioner in true red that helps keep my hair from fading into strawberry blonde and keeps it looking fresh and vibrant. If not use a depositing shampoo, ALWAYS use a shampoo and conditioner for colored hair. (I love the Biolage line, it's so gentle) Also, many Deep Conditioning treatments will fade your color noticably.

Good luck! BTW, your stylist should have some more recs on how to keep up your color.
CO wash only since September '04! Dyed red botticelli curls (3b), fine and just past shoulder length

Thanks for the reply
i'm living in Egypt now so i dont have the same products as u ,when i dye my hair red i use Henara colour enchancing shampoo and conditionner it's from Shwarzkopf it's not bad at keeping the color from fading but it dry the hair out so i use Goldy's revitalizer creme for damaged hair ...after many dying hair years my hair was a baby fine straight hair now it's still fine hair but with a little wave in it..with reds i came to a conclusion the darker shade of red u put the longer it stays

I am a dirty blond too. I tried red color but my skin ended up looking very washed out. I tried brown but got bored very quick. I think I may try to stay a blond but I want red sometimes. I don't know how to get the color I want.
