At the beginning of June I dyed my hair for the first time. At the end of August I decided to dye it again because the roots had grown out quite a bit. I got a different color than I got the first time because I wanted it a little more brown(it ended up having reddish tints when I dyed it the first time). Well it turned out a VERY dark brown, almost black, with reddish tints to it. I HATED the color so I decided to redye it. My mom told me I should wait at least 2 wks so I didn't overprocess my hair. I waited 1 week and didnt want to wait any longer cuz I really didn't like the color. I dyed it and now the color looks great but my hair feels real dry and brittle. I usually blow my wavy/curly hair straight but I didn't want it to all break off so I've been letting it air-dry and wearing it curly for the past week(it was Monday when I redyed it). I've also used a leave in deep conditioner a few times this week(I'd wash it at night, apply the leave in conditioner, wrap a towel around and let it soak in while I slept). I've used a hot oil treatment too. My hair is still pretty dry though and I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions on how I can repair the damage and make my hair soft once again? Also do you know how long it will take? Thanks in advance for any adivce.
What brand of shampoo and conditioner are you using?
Sally Beauty Supply sells some very nice leave-in conditioners. They cost about 99 cents a packet and you put them in for ten minutes. It's recommended that you only do them about once a week though; more than that and you can be harming more than helping.
My recs are stick with the natural drying for a while, shampoo every other day, and use a good shampoo/conditioner with ingredients that won't strip your hair. I'm no hair professional, but this generally works for me.
