Hello
I have tried just about every shade of ash blonde hair coloring on the market with no results. My hair always comes out very yellow blonde. Any suggestions? Also, has anyone tried LOREAL MEGA BLONDE?
This is my first visit, and I've enjoyed reading the posts.
Thanks-Dixie

You would have to go to a beauty supply shop to get closer to a color you wanted, rather than buying a boxed color from the drug store. The most important thing is what base is in the color, which they write on the bottles at beauty supply shops (and the boxed colors never tell you). If your hair comes out too yellow, you can always choose a color with a violet base. Violet is opposite from yellow on the color wheel, so will add more ashy tones and remove some of the yellow. If you choose a color that is too light, however, you may wind up with white hair...so if you want a darker shade of ash blonde, choose one with a violet base that has a hair swatch that is darker brown than the hair you currently have. Remember that it rarely ever comes out looking like the hair swatch sample, it always depends what color your hair is beforehand.

If you have never shopped at a beauty supply store before, you will need a bottle of dye (2 if your hair is long), and a bottle of developer. 40 volume developer will give you lighter hair, and is full of peroxide. 30 volume will give you lighter hair, but not as light, and 20 volume developer is more for going darker.

As always, I suggest going to a salon, telling them what you want, and letting them do it for you. That way if its not what you want, they have to fix it for you. Good luck!

She also might want a developer with blue in it to cut down on brassy yellow if the yellow is brassy.
