I just had my hair dyed blue/black, but my scalp gets so itchy without dandruff shampoo! I know most dandruff shampoos are so abrasive... Any suggestions?

Geez, I never heard of a dandruff shampoo for color-treated hair, although I'm certain one must exist. Can you call your salon and ask your stylist? He/she may know of a product that can help you.

I use a product called President's Choice Out of Africa anti-dandruff shampoo. It contains Shea butter and is really moisturizing. It has a companion anti-dandruff conditioner that you massage into your scalp and then rinse out with cool water so the moisture remains. It really does prevent dandruff and protects your hair too. I usually follow this with a color-preserving conditioner on the rest of my hair.

These two products are really inexpensive. I live in Canada and buy them at the supermarket -- they're about $5 each for 1 litre bottles. I don't know if this brand is sold in the US, but there must be something similar (containing Shea butter).
My user name is WAY too long. Just call me Juliana. :-)

If you can't find the shampoo I suggested, you can also just use shea butter. This website has some excellent tips on preventing dandruff and moisturizing hair with shea butter.
