Okay i want to go blonde but my stylist suggested to do a heavy weaving on my hair to make it look blonde but still have some of my natural hair color in it. I have auburn hair, and I was wondering if I my hair would look actually look blonde or if it would just look like I got highlights. Because I really want it to look like I have color all over, not just streaks but I also don't want to go back to the stylist every four weeks for up keeps. Does anyone have any images or "weaving" so I can see how it would look.

I'm so confused! >.<

Sorry I can't tell you what weaving is; I don't know what it is. I achieved a nice blonde look with two shades of highlights. My natural colour is auburn. We left some strands of my natural colour as lowlights and then did a lot of highlights with two shades of blonde (hi-lift colour; not bleach). It looked like a natural warm blonde with subtle variations -- not a typical highlighted look -- no obvious demarcations. I loved it. (I then ruined it by using bleach highlights... long, sad story).

Anyhow, the colour I loved was achieved with foils. My sister picked up randomly spaced strands by weaving the end of a rat-tail comb in and out near my scalp (maybe that's what your stylist means by "weaving"). Anyhow, if it's done properly, it's a really nice effect. My sister has had her hair done this way for years (she has naturally auburn hair too) and the nice thing about it is it only needs to be re-done every three months or so. A bleached blonde job would need to be touched up every 4 weeks.

Take a look at the photo of Julia Roberts in this link. That's the way the variations in colour look when the method I described is used. (Her colour is my goal, once I get my present disaster fixed).

Good luck. What I'm describing may not be weaving. Maybe someone else will know for sure.

If your going in for highlights - it will last more than 4 weeks 1st of all and if you want it less streaked then tell her... that way she can control the amount of hair that she weaves for the results you want. Have her show you some pictures... or bring in a picture that shows what you expect to walk out with
awaiting advise!!!

Exactly. An all-over bleached blonde job will need to be touched up every 4 weeks. As I said, highlights only need retouching every 3 months or so.
