QuoteReplyTopic: Color & highlights to solid color Posted: December 18 2004 at 11:15pm
Hello! I've decided to change my present color, which is medium brown with golden blonde highlights to a solid medium auburn color - sort a cross between Lindsay Lohan & Nikki Cox's hair colors. My natural color is very dark brown.
Will this be an involved process for my colorist to achieve, given the highlights I presently have?
My hair is a little on the dry side, but not too damaged. I was hoping that she could achieve this color with a demi-permanent dye. Do you think that will work?
Thanks!

If you're willing to go a bit darker than your current base colour I'm pretty sure your stylist could do this with a semi-permanent. It might fade quite a bit, especially on your previous highlights. You may need touch-ups to refresh your colour. Using a colour-depositing shampoo can keep your colour looking vibrant longer. Your stylist can probably recommend one to you.
My user name is WAY too long. Just call me Juliana. :-)
I think that a demi would work fine, but your highlights might peek through a bit, which would actually look nice, in my opinon. Afterward, if you use a color-enhancing shampoo, such as Artec in Cherry Bark, that should help a lot with the fading factor. I hope you get what you want. Good luck!

Happy Holidays all! I just wanted to report that I went to the salon on Christmas Eve, and my colorist successfully changed my color from medium brown with golden blonde highlights, to a level 6 rich auburn/red via permanent color by Alfaparf. She said that a demi would fade out too quickly, even with the use of color-enhancing shampoos. I had a deep conditioning treatment after my coloring process, and my hair feels and looks great!
Happy New Year, and good luck with your hair endeavors! : )
