QuoteReplyTopic: Lighter roots like ColorDiva! Posted: January 06 2005 at 10:53pm
I have a similar problem like ColorDiva. I had my hair colored yesterday. I wanted a med.-dark auburn, which I've had for years. I've moved to a different state, so it's a challenge finding a new hairdresser. Anyway, this lady has cut my hair several times and I've been pleased with the results, so I thought I'd get brave and ask her to color my hair. I've been doing it myself for quite a while because we have been moving around a lot the last 5 years. I went to Sally's and got Compliments semi product and took it in with me. She put it on and when I was done I had COPPER red hair!! It was my fault--I bought the wrong number!!! Arrrgggg!!! Anyway, it looked pretty bright, to say the least! This morning I dug around in my bathroom vanity and found a medium brown Ultress color and put that on. It toned it down quite a bit, but now my roots are still a little lighter than my other hair. It doesn't look that bad, but like ColorDiva, it bothers me. Can I fix this myself? Already spent $$ I shouldn't have.
Well, ColorDiva was going prematurely gray...from what you said, that's not your same problem? I would just cover it for awhile with hats or scarves until the ends faded to the lighter color. You could also try dishwashing liquid to get it to fade faster, but since you have semi permanent red underneath, its probably going to fade superfast anyway with normal washing and conditioning, so I don't think I'd do the dish liquid if it were me.

Hello baker46! My problem occurred because I have a fair amount of premature grey, and that is why the color didn't hold onto the greys as well as the non-grey hair. If I were you, I would definitely go back to the salon you went to initally. Anything you attempt to do on your own may wind up making it worse, instead of better.
Good luck!

Thanks to you both for your comments. I guess I neglected to mention that I have those pesky "gray's", too! I'm sure that's why the color didn't "grab". ColorDiva, did you resolve your problem?
