I used a demi-permanent color. Wella Color Charm in Golden Brown mixed with Mahogany to be exact. While it has been alot gentler with my hair than semi-permanents that I have used in the past, it still dried my hair out. I read on the developer for it that it has hydrogen peroxide in it. My question is, it says that it is just depositing color, so why does it contain peroxide? Is this the safest kind of color there is?

The peroxide levels in a demi-perm are very very low, and they are only for depositing color, the tint molecule is smaller and therefore is not able to penetrate the hair shaft.

semi-perm lasts through a couple of shampoos, depending on you hair's porosity... the tint molecule is small, but partially penetrates the hair shaft.

I would say demi is more gentler.... are you using any moisturizers - for your drying prob?
It is what it is...
