I had natural brown hair with some natural highlights. I did I home dye/highlight job over the weekend and I have orange hair now! I tried to redye it using a champagne blonde and it just turned more orange. I was going for a medium blonde color, but it did NOT work. What can I do to fix this? I can't afford to go to the salon this week and I can't live another day with this carrot top! PLEASE HELP!

You tried to go blonde with a box color, but your hair is too dark. Box tints normally come with 20 v peroxide developer and generally only lift about 2 levels.
If you want to be a medium blonde, go to Sally's Beauty and get Color Fix color remover. Remove the processed color, when that color is gone you might be at gold stage, you can then recolor with the medium blonde of your choice.

From now on your going to have to bleach to gold stage( gold ring color) and then tint.

Thank you SO much for the advice! I went to the salon and they told me to dye back to my natural color and wait a month, then get highlights.

Will the color remover fry my hair? My hair is really long and I so afraid of frying it. Plus I colored twice already, will the color fix AND re-color dry it out??

If you have already colored your hair twice- coloring back and getting highlights later will be more damaging than just doing highlights now. You risk breakage because your processing the same hair over and over again and bleach on hair thats been tinted several times- not a good combo.

Color Fix is not damaging- it will take out the processed color now and it might(probably one application) take you to gold stage and you can just retint. Strand Test with the Color Fix and see how your hair responds . It may be a little dry but it won't be as damaged as what it would be if you dye again and then bleach- fuzzy and possilble breakage.

When you do roots again to maintain your highlights your going to have to bleach, make sure you don't overlap and just keep in on the virgin root area.

HI. I actually didn't bleach, I used a store bought box dye/highlight product. It's terrible and I have learned a very valuable and expensive lesson. When I didn't like the first dye/highlight job (Color Experts), I got Loreal Excellence Champagne Blonde. It really did an orange number on my hair. Then my salon told me that I should dye it back to my natural (dark blonde or light brown) and wait a month then get pro. highlights done. So I went and got Natural Instincts Dark Neutral Blonde and it toned down the orange and brassyness, now I am just a light red. It seems to be fading (washing) out already though because it is getting lighter and more orange already. I don't know if I should use color fix at this point or just leave it alone and wait awhile. My hair is surprisingly in good condition still. It is bra strap length and I definately do NOT want it any shorter so breakage is a MAJOR concern. My husband would like to see it lighter (a BLONDE color, not red) so I am considering all of my options. At this point, I just wish it was all a bad dream!!!

Thanks!
Lisa

I am going through the same thing!! I have never used box color before or bleached my hair at home. WELL.....my best friend colored her hair and it looked so great, I decided to have her try it on me because my roots had grown out so severely and I didn''''t have time to get to my stylist. We got the Ultra Blue bleaching kit and OMG....my hair is bright yellow and orange! It looks terrible! I am so scared to do anything else to it! I don''''t know what to do! Any advice would be appreciated as I don''''t want to go to my stylist (who has a severe attitude) like this! PLease help!!
I want my hair to be light neutral to ashy blonde!!

apply 30 developer with blue powder bleach to the orange parts, and when they turn the same shade as the yellow areas, apply it to the yellow parts. Then it should all come out around the same color. Then tint it with ash blonde color. Color charm is really good, when I was blonde, it got rid of the yellowness and added a beautiful ash natural looking tone.
