QuoteReplyTopic: going from black to blonde Posted: January 26 2005 at 2:29pm
Im an asian guy and i''m trying to dye to my hair from black to blonde. Not sure what shade of blonde yet. Anyways, I tried using Loreal to get my hair blonde but it ended up orange. Before that I applied another Loreal product that was dark brown, but it defintely didnt look like the picture. Any advice on how to get from black to blonde would be great.
Also, can someone tell me what is the difference between dying your hair and bleacing your hair? are they the same thing?
thanks in advance.

Dyes can only make your hair a little lighter, so if you wanna go from black to blonde, you'll have to bleach. . . for a long time, and probably more than once. Once it goes through all the weird orange and yellow stages to a pale-blonde stage, you have to put some sort of dye or toner on it to get it whatever you want it to be. Your hair will be very damaged after all that, though, so you have to put a lot of conditioners and stuff to make it feel all right again.
Yep, that's right. Your hair will almost never come out like the picture on a box. A lot of things the box photo doesn't show have a big effect on how it will come out. (how dark your hair is when you start, and the base in the dye are all important).
