I have naturally very dark brown hair with a few greys. My hair is highlighted a light brown/dark blond, and I have been getting the roots done at the salon for about $50 every 4 weeks. The color they have been using is very dark. (It covers my grey and lightens the root VERY VERY slightly) They use this color because any lighter makes my hair brassy red, and the roots show up very quickly. I feel like I'm wasting my money. For that much money, I feel like I should love the color, and I feel like it's too dark.
I was thinking about doing the roots at home using Feria high lift Downtown Brown. Does anyone have experience with this color, or an opinion on how it would turn out (or any other suggestions) Would I be able to highlight over this color as it grows out? Help!

check out make up alley for reviews on this color. I tried a streak of it (Downtown brown) in my hair last year which is naturally black and it turned out a not so noticable slightly brassy brown until the second attmept over the same streak which made it noticeable but not nearly as light as the shade on the box, and even so it was sitll too dark, but it works well most of the i hear. Anyways as for using this to touch-up ur roots, i dunno if i would recommend this, first do a strand test. The high-lift does have a tendency to turn brassy, Maybe u should try a different salon that will leave u satisfied and give u a color that u don't feel is too dark. Sometimes using home hair colorants over salon colored hiar is a recipe for disaster. Hair disaster=more money spent at the salon.

Hi, I have tried the HI-lift browns from freia soem months back, and I was very disappointed, it did not lighten my hair much at all, left me with a really ugly brassy dark red, which looked horrible enough that I bleached it all out.
