I have heard mixed reviews on this product and have a few inquiries about it....

First of all, a while back I purchased a Clairol Permanent color remover from the pharmacy and did a strand test with it. It did lighten my hair to a red/orange color, BUT the strand became very frail and broke in peices. I have heard that ColorFix does minimal damage to hair. Does this mean that CF would not cause my hair to break as the other product did? My hair is in really good condition. But I thought it was then too, and it still broke off.

CF contains hydrogen peroxide, so how is it that it is not damaging?

Where can I find CF? Do they sell it at Sally's Beauty Supply?

I know they say the whole purpose of CF is to re-color afterwards. In this case, I want to BLEACH afterwards. I thought CF would take out the majority of the dark color and then I could just bleach out the orange to a blonde shade. Is this okay to do?

And lastly, if any of you have had any positive or negative experiences with Colorfix would you please share?

If you're going to bleach, you can just skip the colorfix. Bleach will eat right through any color on your head.

Well I know that, but I heard that colorfix is less damaging than bleach.

Colorfix is less damaging than bleach, but if you're going to bleach afterwards anyway, then the colorfix is just sort of an extra step and not really necessary.

Colorfix won't lift your natural color. It has peroxide in it but not that much (which is why it's not considered very damaging, and not enough to lift your natural haircolor). If your hair is dyed, it will remove the dye color by opening the hair shaft and chemically processing the dye in there so that it slides right out. The yellow or orange color people get after colorfix is because when they dyed their hair with permanent dye, there was enough peroxide in that to lift the natural haircolor.

Given that you have been bleach blonde before, colorfix would probably pretty much turn your hair light yellow or white if that same hair is still on your head (not cut off). Whatever is on your head that wasn't bleached blonde before will probably come out a darker yellow or orange. If you have natural roots, they'll probably stay pretty brown.

Please do a strand test on anything you do, like last time. I'd hate for it to get too damaged because you will have to dye again after the colorfix to get a good shade.

Yes, you can buy it at Sally.

I don't have any experience with semi and demi permanent haircolors, so I don't know. You could always do a strand test and see.
