HELP...my scalp is on fire! I've been coloring my hair blonde forever and all of a sudden it started burning and even left a blister. I use all products, Clairol, Loreal, etc. I remember a lady recommending something and I forgot what it was. Thanks, anyone, lise

What coloring products have you used on your scalp?

The best thing for you to do know would be to massage your whole scalp with aloe gel a few times a day
, it's wonderful, stops itching, soothes and speeds up the healing process.
It's very important that you do not color your hair untill your scalp is back to normal again.

While I'm at it, I thought I'd might give you some genereal advice about how to spare the scalp when coloring your hair.

If you're going to bleach your hair, it's very important that you DON'T wash your hair atleast 24 hours or more before bleaching since the natural oils on your scalp protects your scalp from burns.
Bleaching hair more than once one day is a really bad idea, sometimes it can take 2 bleaching to get the hair pale enough, but you should really wait one day in between bleachings.

To spare the scalp and hair, you shouldn't double process (bleach and tone) more often than every 4 weeks.
And if you got sensitive scalp, you shouldn't use any stronger developer than 20 volume with bleach
And ofcourse making sure that the bleach you put on your scalp is an on-scalp bleach.
, you could also try to add some packages of sweet and low into the mixture, it'll make it less painful.

Also, you can suddenly develop allergies, even to something you were not allergic to before, so you may want to do the allergy test just to check and be sure its not an allergic reaction.

I know this sounds funny, but I do this when coloring a client(as do many other stylists). Try putting a package or two of sweet & low sweetener(only this brand) in the mix..it shouldnt affect the results but seems to soothe the scalp. It also works with bleach..Although it may only be in the clients heads, but when i leave it out they seem to always be able to tell.

Yeah I've heard the same I.ITALIANA, bout the sweet and low. I dont do many on scalp bleaching. Come to think of it not since Beauty school. Too much of an opportunity to overlap. I'd rather heavy, heavy heavy hilight- some areas completely back to backx5 or more.
Some clients who itch from color I'll have them take benedryl prior Alka Seltzer helps, too-but it tastes like a**
Lise- There was lots of good advice mentioned. Hope your head get well soon!LOL

If you think your problem is an allergic reaction, take two Benadryl before bed, and when you wake up, it should be substantially better, if not completely gone. That's what I take any time I get an allergic rash to anything from detergent to poison ivy.
More awesome than a manatee!
