I went to a salon and had highlights in my hair a few days ago. I am Asian and my hair is naturally black. I told the girl doing my highlights that i dont want a drastci change in my hair color and that i think caramel or brown would look nice. But it turned out very light like goldish/copper or somewhat blonde! I really dont like the color coz it's too light for me. And besides, the highlights were not placed in the right places...there's like a solid bronde strip on the left side of my hair, it dont look natural....it really looks awful!

I am thinking of buying a hair color to just color my hair back to black again...just plain black and just do it at home. But i have heard of stories of hair turning green or sometimes pink or blue when doing it wrong.

My question is.....if i buy a black hair color and color my hair at home, would it work? or would it be a disaster again.....and how soon can i have this done without damaging my hair since i just got it highlighted a few days ago.....which brand is best to use.........HELP!

They should be able to correct this mistake they made on ur hair for free, actually u R entitled to this, so seriously call them up and say ur not happy w/ the results. Remember going lighter isn't that bad becuz u can always have it darkened. It when u go dark and then u wanna go lighter is where its more tricky.

Ty Veronica.....but I was just thinking of just coloring my hair black again here at home.....dont feel like going back to that salon anymore. I am just scared that if i color it black again, the highlighted part of my hair would turn green.

Usually, pple use fillers on blonde before coloring on the super light parts. The reason a color could turn out green is if the color that's applied on blonde has a greenbase or ashy tone. Maybe u should just color w/ a semi-perm and if its still not quite black and then go over again, but this isn't the best advice, I'm sorry. I can't think straight as I hardly got any sleep last nite!!
U should try clairolpro.com they have good advice for dilemas and registration is free. Anyways I don't think black will create any *funky* tones in ur hair but u should do a strand test first to be sure.
Oh and do u still wanna highlight again after this?

I heard clairol Nice and Easy is not so harsh on the hair & its a semi. The one i DON'T recommend in ur case is Feria starry night or any shade from Feria becuz it'l be too harsh on ur already highlighted hair.

I don't know if you've gone ahead with doing it at home, but if you haven't dont! Twice i've tried to turn my blonde highlights back to my dark brown hair and both times It was GREEN. And ended up going to the salon anyways. Just wanted to share my experience!

I see why it happened in ur :( but there is a diffeence between brown and black. Maybe u used a brown that had an ashy base hence the green cast, and usually the thing to do is use a red filler on ur blonde THEN dye it w/ brown. Black on the other hand is slightly different, becuz its usually strong enough to deposit all the dye on but the best thing to do first is use a filler on the blonde.
