Is that the going rate? I have such fine hair, I was considering this prcedure. I'm afraid it may pull out the little hair I have. Does the extension glue cause dandruff?

Do you know how the great lengths works? Thinking of getting hair extentions but heard glue is bad, braiding is bad and damaging, I don't know about clips. Let me know if you get the great lengths

I now wear Monkey Barrz after hundreds of attempts of other kinds and LOVE them. I will give you the product on how to remove them though as you wish..For the braided weft, simply cut out the thread holding the artificial hair to your own and be careful when undoing the braid..As for anyone that is using a bonded or glued method, buy a product called 'acetone" which can be purchased at any beauty supply store...This product will completely dissolve the glue with no damage to your own hair..I have used this product hundreds of times and no damage...It completely dissolves the glue....I use this product to also remove artificial nails..Anyway good luck girls and again I am sorry to hear of your bad experience..I know how you feelo cause I have been there too many times...If you have any questions, feel free to email me at :brandii_g@yahoo.com and I will be happy to help in your questions or removal...

I just got my extensions put in today and they feel great. My stylist is actually a sister of my friend who has been doing this for years so I trust her and the price is very reasonable. All I had to do was go the the wig supply store and get the best quality 100% human hair there was...let me tell you..it's expensive but very worth it. The owner of the store matched my highlights and hair perfectly to the tee with the weft extensions. The process overall took 2 hours andwas very worth it..I've had lots of compliments from strangers who think it's my own natural hair..very cool. I had the weave extensions where they sew the weft into the tracks. My stylist did an awesome job..the braid was tiny and not visible at all! It all depends on your stylist's experience. I have to go back for a check up in 3 weeks since I wash my hair daily so this may cause the braids to get loose sooner. Overall....my experience was great and I feel bad for the other members who've had bad experiences.

I did exactly the same thing. I had hair that was too short for extensions but the stylist put them in anyway. She used Great Lengths. When I left the salon, I had a MULLET!!! I had all the length cut off into a very short bob but I still want the awful things OUT!!!! Does anyone know a home remedy that I can use to remove them myself? Great Lengths uses a keratin-type bond (glue). PLEASE HELP ME!!

Oh My! Im reading all of these horror stories, and I cant believe my eyes! Thanx for warning me about Euroloc!

Ive had extensions in my hair since I was 12, so I guess Im used to the uncomfort they cause, i guess they're part of life now. Ive had extentions sewn in, glued in, and braided in. All of which, I adore (if the stylist does it the way that I want) until its time to take them out. lol Now, I glue in my own extentions. For some reason, I just cant see how stressed people get over extensions. The secret to stop the itching is OIL. If you're planning on taking glued extensions out early make sure you oil them regularly, otherwise dont...the glue becomes weak. If you want to take glued extensions out, ease them out with a strong, small-tooth comb (or wash them out after a couple of weeks). Start from the root and slide the track out. Dont force it or you'll risk ripping your hair out!! I do it all the time...never had a problem and never lost hair.

Hi there. I wear clips. I purchased them at a booth called Flhair at the mall. They are real hair and I paid $230 CDN including tax for them. I'm pretty happy with them. My only complaint is that they are not permanately attached to my head, lol... so I am a little self concious that they might fall out or that the clips are exposed, and they can be somewhat tricky to put in if you have fine hair like mine. Equally tricky however if you have super thick hair too, as does my friend. If your hair is too thick, the clips won't close properly. And if your hair is really really thick, you might even need to get two or more sets, or get your natural hair thinned.

Before buying, get the sales girl to put them in your hair for you so you can see how they look/feel. She should not have a problem doing that. Thats what happened to me. My friend and I were at the mall and we saw this wig/extension booth and we checked it out just for fun. The sales girl came up to me and just starting attaching all these strands to my head and when she was done I was totally shocked and how real they looked and everything and got her to ring them up on the spot hehe!

If you have fine hair, using a volumizing or texturizing product on your hair before putting the clips in seems to give your hair more grip making it easier. If your hair is just washed and you don't put any product in your hair, it will be too clean/slipery and the clips won't have anything to grip onto.

The clips are somewhat uncomfortable. But I'm willing to put up with them b/c they make my hair feel so much thicker. It's tricky to style though. They're arent too many styles that you can do. It's basically either wear it down or in a low ponytail.

And you really have to make sure you take good care of them. I kind of mistreated mine and they are noticably damaged now, the next set I get I will be sure to take better care of. If taken care of properly, they should last for quite a long time. I've had mine for probably about 6 months now and had I taken better care of them from day one they would probably be in just as good condition as they were when I bought them. I wasn't given any care instructions when I bought them. But I bought them from a little tart in a booth at a mall so what can I expect :P

There are special sprays and oils you can get to keep the hair shiny and soft. I recommend spending the extra money and getting them at the same time as you buy your hair. If the place you buy them from doesnt have anyof these types of products, I would recommend finding some before you wear them. Also, very important...you must be sure to use a soft bristled brush. I've been using a metal brush on mine...just learned that this is not good. It's impossible for me to wear the hair down now as it gets all tangled and matted looking because of the damge I caused by improper brushing.

Some other tips I can recommend would be NOT to wash the hair too much and if you can avoid styling with hot irons/dryers etc all the better. The hair is coated with some type of silicone or something which makes it shiny and soft and healthy looking. Even though they tell you that you can do anything to this hair that you can do to your own, you really can't. You will eventually suck all the moisture out of the hair by doing this. The clips do not get much oils from being on your head as would regular extensions that are bonded as you can't really brush your hair from the scalp with the extensions in.

Thats about as much as I can tell you from my experience. I am looking into getting Great Lengths hair extensions...but after reading some of the bad experiences people have had I'm thinking it might not be worth the risk for me and maybe I'll just stick with the clips. They seem to be the least damaging option, to both hair and pocketbook.

Good luck! Anyone with Great Lengths hair extensions or any other type of 100% humane hair extensions please feel free to email me about your experience. And If you can, send pics!

Thanks!
kat:)

Well I was lucky enough to try eurolocs at cost but it still was 400 bucks (CAN)at first I loved them but soon they started shedding alot and falling out in a month I swear I have lost over half of my hair .Then I found a girl who does the weaves so I had 1 row put in ..I LOVE them .The braid isnt that big so there really isn''t much discomfort. The hair is very silky and slowly I am removin the other eurolocs to put new weaves in .I have to recommend to do alot of calling around for I didnt and I got taken ...I do feel sorry for those ladies who are paying thousands of dollars I know I would be pissed ..The girl who is doing my hair has extensions in her hair for over 2 years now and no problems .I have even noticed less shedding in that area ...I hope you all find a happy ending with your experiences .....

I am soooo sorry that had happened to you!!!! When I first started using hairLocs that happened to me! I was so upset!!!!!!! THe girl did the same thing to me. I found out that she was clamping them in to hard and was reckless with the tool!
I have been getting my hair done by XXXXX. She has been doing them for 10 years and GUARENTEES HER WORK! She is very cool. If someone messes up using hairloc she gives a huge discount and fixes the hair. She re-did my hair correctly and deeply apologized for a mess that she did not even do. Oh by the way, my extensions stay in for about 6 months. I have not lost one strand!!!!!!!Call her she's cool.

No offense, "Bridget," but there are several women on this site who have had their hair and bank accounts seriously damaged by hairlocs--and not only by Kimarie. We've also had many, many hairlocs stylists on this site peddling their services, and no one likes their shameless self-promotion. If you'd like to participate as a member of this board--sharing ideas, tips, information, etc.--that's great, but please don't cut-and-paste your advertisement on every thread.

I am a white girl with really fine, thin hair and I wore a a 'weave' (extensions sewn onto a braided track) for 5 years with no problems and they looked really natural.

My stylist was very skilled at working with caucasian hair, which comprised most of her clientele.

My stylist would braid into the cornrow some synthetic hair so it would not slip out. I have to say I had very little slippage problems and only got them redone every 8-10 weeks.

I now just clip my wefts in so I can take them out when exercising, sleeping, etc.

If you want to wear a weaved in extensions, just find someone who is skilled at working with your hair type.

There is another method by raphael basante hair systems that does require a braid or glue.  These extensions look like they would not damage the hair at all.  They also look like they would be very comfortable.

If you click on a poster, you can see the last time they posted. For trixie, the original poster, you can see she hasn't been back in years.

Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?
