hair extensions are a big committment and a big expense. for a teenager, i would suggest clip-in extensions or ponytails you can wear when you want to and take out at night.
if youre absolutely set on having extensions, DO NOT GET GLUE or FUSION. you will risk losing all your hair. get a gentler braiding method, or if you have a mom or sisters that are crafty, get them to put links, tubes, or shrinks in your hair. all supplies can be ordered online, abd youll save a lot of money that way.
whether or not your stylist can put them in depends on their experience with extensions. you'll have to ask. but in general, the best place to order extensions supplies are hairpiece.com, drlocks.net, hisandher.com, hairaddition.com, glamourhair.com, afrocare.com, and texas beauty supply. there are others, but these are probably the most reputable. if you want to experiment with them for a while, you might want to get synthetic (plastic) hair the first time. its much cheaper and can look very good. youll only be able to wear it for a few days to a week or so, but it'll give you an idea of what theyre like, how to use the supplies, etc. and i agree with Addicted--stay away from glue or fusion--use the gentlest methods available. you dont want to lose half your hair at your age. good luck.
All of the sites listed above are good; its just a matter of who has the length, texture, color, etc., that you're looking for. The prices don't very all that much, either, though sometimes there's a special sale or something. It is possible to dye human extensions hair, but it's not a good idea because the hair has already been so processed already that you could ruin it or wind up with the wrong shade. Also, the hair is available in 40 colors or so, so you should just order the one thats closest to your hair color. If you need to make slight modifications, a color-depositing shampoo or conditioner may be a better choice.
I assume from your selection of hair that you are African American (if you're white, this is the wrong hair for you). You can probably get them put in as wefts (attached to cornrows), or as separate pinchbraids each one attached to a braid at the root of you hair. Or, you can try Shrinkies or Microrings, which are also relatively safe. Good extensions, in my opinion, last three months max before the need to be tightened. The hair will last anywhere from three months to nine months, depending on what you do to it (styling, etc). You'll want to order longer hair than you need so you can cut the style afterward.
More important, does your family support you in doing this? You'll really need someone else's help if you want to do this properly. Maybe if you explain more about what your hair looks like now and what you'd like it to look like....
