Great news about Shrinkies

I have regular tubing as well and think lining it myself would be too time consuming. And what would one use? I definitely don't want Liquid Gold or any other type of strong glue in my hair. I think the shrinkie residue is enough to contend with.

I have only snipped off a couple and tried them. I would think you'd be able to get more than 100 off that 4 foot tube. I'm guessing.

Re: Docs saying theirs is Keratin lined -- I highly doubt that's keratin. I don't have proof either way but I agree 100% with you about being able to backtrack and find them. Bottom line is that I just don't trust anyone in the hair industry anymore. I've been lied to too much to take the word of anyone who's selling something.

Hi there its me again, I've been trying out two samples of shrinkies, one from Dr Locs and one from hollywood hair in Germany. I've had them both in for around two weeks now. The only difference I could tell was that the shrinkies from Germany were half the size of Dr Locs to start with and shrank slightly smaller than Dr Locs but to be honest there wasn't that much difference in them and the Dr Locs ones were far easier to apply because the hole was bigger to start with so you don't need to be so precise when you are pre-tipping your hair. Also another thing I noticed is that the shrinkies from Dr Locs seemed to shrink more to the colour of the hair I was putting in, the ones from Hollywood Hair seemed to stay looking kinda plastic and reflective. Now back to last night, I decided to take all of them out. I applied my fusion wand for a few second while pulling at the pre-bonded hair and it started to slide down my natural hair until I was left with the shrinkie on the end of the pre-bonded hair which then lead me to a brainwave which I would be glad of some feedback on. Can we pre-tip our hair with shrinkies and then apply shrinkies over that???? Well I tried it and it worked. All that was different was the end result was only very slightly bulkier but still nowhere anywhere near the size of the fusion bonds. I then took this out and the shrinkie on the end of the hair was still in tact. Have I stumbled across something here or am I talking a load of rubbish.

Now onto residue. I didn't have any veggie oil so I used acetone. It was a bit tricky to work out the residue that both Hollywood Hair and Dr Locs shrinkies had left (maybe its easier with veggie oil) but it still came out and hey guys come on its still 100% easier to get out than a fusion bond is. I LOVE THESE SHRINKIES THEY ROCK !!!

I no what you mean, I'm still having trouble finding the right hair, I'm trying bohyme, waiting for some from ebonyline. Anybody else got any comments on the shrinkie on shrinkie method in my above post xx

First off, I am not a rep of Dr Locks and I've tried a lot of their stuff that's not very good. The shrinkies, though, are like a dream come true for me. However, I will always be in search of the perfect tubing for less money. So far that hasn't happened so my advice would be to spend the $30 and get them. Electrical tubing will not work unless it specifically states it's "dual wall" and contains adhesive. I have also tried some overseas sources that say they have non-adhesive shrinks or shrinkies that work. Take my advice -- they don't. Save your money and ask here if you're unsure. Chances are, I've probably tried it.

With shrinkies, you use the same method as installing microrings to get the hair strand inside the shrinkie on your head. I use a fusion heat wand to heat it and shrink it down. I do not use one-sided heat tools because I don't think that's the best method. I also think flat irons are bulky and there's a chance of burning yourself or your client. Yes, it will work and you may want to do that before investing in a wand just to see if you like the feel of a shrinkie. But it's important to get a uniform heat source around it to truly see how it responds and for a good install.

I hold the fusion wand over the shrinkie until I can hear it softly sizzle. When it's still hot and pliable, I squeeze and roll it between my thumb and forefinger and it becomes very firm after just a few seconds. If you've made a nice small, round tip on your hair strand and the tip is not too hard, your shrinkie will stay put for a long long time.

I've tried this 909 and it's a great way to start out. Plus, the tips are perfect if you also want to use them in a small size microring method.)

If you've made your own tips and the ends are too big and hard and not round, you will lose your shrinkie faster. 99% of the time I lose a strand, the shrinkie is still in my hair which tells me my install was not good. That usually happens to me in the back where I'm using mirrors for my own installation. On the sides and in the front, I lose nothing. Seriously. They don't slip or fall out at all. I went 8 weeks without maintenance and my hair is actually growing. I am stoked!
