Well I'm considering getting hair extensions, this will be my first time getting them, and I've done research on different methods and such. The reason I want them, is because..About a year ago now I totally chopped off all my hair, its grown out some, but at an akward length..I'm to scared to get it cut, in fear that they will cut it to short again, plus I miss my long hair. .. But I have some questions about the hair extenstions...Like one of the methods they put them in is using Tracks..and I was woundering if they hurt? or cause those red bumps from your hair being pulled to tight? I'm also woundering about how to know if the hair the salon will use is good or not? I also would like to know about "blending" does that mean after you get your hair extensions the top half of your hair just lays there? See my natural hair is about to the bottom of my ears maybe a bit longer.. so is that going to so even with hair extensions? If any of ya'll could answer these questions I'd be very thankful.. Thanks !

I wore extensions in sewn in tracks for 5 years, and almost always I got the red bumps along the part line where the hair was braided. The braiding was very tight for about a week, and then progressively loosens up. Also, when you sleep at night you can always feel the bulkiness of the tracks. Another thing that bothered me was when the wefts grow out, they hang down and feel 'saggy' in the hair and it is harder to style, let alone wearing it up in a pony tail.

Since then, I've tried strand extensions and they are 100 times more comfortable.

ps...the sylist will layer/blend the extensions in with your hair so that your natural hair and extensions lay and blend smoothly together. How much cutting if any, just depends on the texture and current style, length and thickness of your hair and the method of application. I think weaved tracks or glued tracks take more layering to get them to blend. On strand methods I usually have to do only some very light layers on the top few rows of extensions to bend them nicely. I only cut the extensions and not the natural hair. Although if the top of your natural hair is long layering may not be necessary. Or if you are going for a straight one length style layering may not be necessary. Check out Kristins website www.HairCandy.net she does no cutting at all except for the ends and they blend beautifully.

ps_I_loved_you,

If you have thick hair, you're very lucky in that you hair will probably be more durable and able to withstand various methods. The downside of the thickness, though, is that if you have a blunt cut,. you'll probably need to cut layers to blend it all in.

Can you post a pic of what your hair looks like now (if not a pic of your own hair, then an Internet image that looks similar) as well as a photo of what you'd like it to look like, along with information about how much you want to spend and how much time you're willing to spend styling it, etc.?

Tell us what your priorities and concerns are and then well be able to tell you what we think would work best.

Good luck, and let us know! :)
