I've read the boards and I can't seem to find the answer to this question.

Can you use the heat clamp for shrinkies the same way you use the C2 heat clamp (Dome)?

My daughter has made me her hair slave and I'm trying to keep the cost and damage down by using the braid/seal method with synthetic hair.

Shrinkies seem nice, but I'm leery about removing them on a bi-monthly basis.

I currently braid and rubberband or Micro ring. The rings are nice, but......

I really like the look of the heat clamp, but Dome wants nearly $277 + $50 s/h for the unit! :-0

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Does Doc's wand work for the Dome/heat-sealing method, too? (Perhaps this is obvious, but I never even made the connection--LOL.) :)

I understand Doc sells the heat clamp for shrinkies.

I'm asking if you can create a heat seal with the "shrinkies" heat clamp in the same manner as the heat clamp from Dome (C2) and ProHair?
(Using synthetic hair in braid, wrapping synth around braid and sealing with heat clamp)

I hope I'm not confusing anyone.

I don't see why you can't use it for heat sealing synth. On Docs site it says that you can use it for open ended braids.

I would go with Docs clamp. I have the C2 and it is not worth the $275 they charge.

From what I have read, there's three different heat clamps for 3 different applications: Shrinking, fusing & sealing.

The question is, can they "cross-over" in use?

I guess if we went about this scientifically, we'd need:

The shrink temp for "shrinkies.

The "seal temp" for synthetic hair (I use Kanekalon, silky braid from Docs site).

The melting point of the glue used on "nail extensions)

Ah-Ha!! The above was on Docs site. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that the clamp has a temperature range of 120 -180 degrees Celsius.

Probably Doc knows what temp is good for each use.

I think its just a matter of getting a temp controlled heat wand that gets hot enough to do all three. I dont know the temp required for heat sealed, but the shrinkies I think melt best around 150 C, (and someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong) and I think my nailhair wand goes to 200 C.

Just make sure you buy one that is dual sided heat, mine is not and doesn't work to good for shrinkies.

I got curious how hot my heat tool was so I went to the store and got my self a $4 candy thermometer. I don't know how accurate it is being that the tool only touches it at two very small points but here are my results:





btw, this tool is one of the dual sided heat clamps... I can't imagine trying to work with anything else.

I suppose if you are looking to do multiple tasks you would need a wand that had temperature control but I know mine works great fo fusion and shrinkies.

If you are wondering exactly how hot your tool is, all you need is a candy thermometer to find out
