I want to try out PH...Love what I'm hearing and seeing! My only problem...my short crown layers. I had a mullet last time I tried the shrinkies...which I thought were uncomfortable, and bonded the weft 1/2 inch below each part and crown to blend.
So...My question.... since PH comes in bulk... can I use a human weft to blend the mullet and still have it look natural in contrast to the PH??????

Hi Gina! Did you post pic's of the last look w/shrinkies and the "mullet" (sorry!!)....

Why don't you try a "layery" look? Starting with your crown layers and blend it all?

I think Shania Twain & Ashley Simson have this kinda look... maybe?
It is what it is...

I am all about layers. . . not that you can tell with my idiotic picture. . .but I must admit I am really quite adept at blending the front and back (I wrote a diatribe on it before).

Anyway - you need to 'install' really tiny strands around your face, and don't be afraid to cut them !!and blend, blend, blend. . .

It's weird, when we install the long hair we love it but it can actually end up looking better if you trim the sides a little. Not to mullet-level, just to blend with the long back. .

Also remember that when you do layers, you need to have a *lot* of hair installed on your head, or it will end up looking stringy.

Good Luck!!

No Bridget... I was mortified!!! I did try to layer, but I still looked like Joe Dirk!!! After I thought to bond the weft... I'd already lost a lot of shrinkies and they were uncomfortable. So, I stayed up late one night (about 3-4 day after my friend installed them) and took them all down. I'm gonna give the shrinkies another go before I rule them out......

dont be afraid to get right up next to your part lines, my hair is about 1 1/2" to 2" up top, and I avoided the dreaded mullet look

That sucks Gina.... if the layers didn't work, why don't you try to pull back your sides and top with a clip, and then add a small clip in hair piece over that... does that make sense?
It is what it is...

Yeah FF, I'm all abou layers too!
Kalika, next time I try the shrinkies I'll go up more...
Did we do them wrong because the plastic shrinkies felt like they were stabbing my head? Should the shrinkies be hard or still have some "give" when you squeeze them?

the shrinkies need to be hard. Ive had a few slip, but only the ones that still had some "give" to them.

the first couple of night when I slept on them my head was a little tender, but now I dont even notice they're there.

How is your PH holding up? Does it hold better with the shrinkies than human?

I dont wear human extensions for a varity of reasons, and Ive only used the shrinkies with the plastikhaar. Ive had them in a little over 2 weeks, washed twice, lost 5-6 and they were all softer ones. the hard ones hold like a rock.

Kristin - yup. Im a big DIY and all Ive used before is gluing for a temp look, and braiding, which is VERY time consuming when you do it on yourself. I had fusion done one time, and never again.

I wanted something simple to use and fast, so it was the metal links or the shrinkies. I was worried about the metal slicing my hair, so I got the DrLocks shrinkies :)

kalika, my hair should be here in a few weeks, and I am sooo nervous about doing it up to the part, but my hair is too d@mn short, and wont lay flat for blending. Would you please pretty please with sugar on top, if you get a chance, do some more pics for me of the top of your head?? I need reassurance. I can't wait for the hair to get here, I keep looking at your pic, and thinking in my head how I am gonna do mine. I am such a geek, I know. But I am really nervous, since I hadn't even thought about getting extensions done at all, till I researched it a few weeks ago, now here I am gonna do my own.

I keep reassuring myself though, it should at least look great at first. It is the 28 curl, so should hide a bit at the roots. I am thinking if it looks great, I will shoot for human hair, to hold curl. anyhoo, I am blabbing. My husband is tired of hearing me yap on and on about my ideas and the hair, so I am heapin it on you guys

no problem :) - when the boyfriend gets home I'll have him take pics of when the hair covers the shrinkies, and then of the shrinkies themselves.

i think ekatherin posted this "You know, Amy, plastikhaar comes in wefts. You have to order 5 meters, but the price is really reasonable compared to the human hair you're sourcing. You can probably sell any extra here. They blend colors any way you like, and it's available in the length you want. "

Thanks all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mer... I think I'd order the weft to be on the safe side. So, Sara will mix/blend custom colors? That's great! Better get with Amm and order a PH ring!
OT... I went to Thayers world...my son Evan was recently tested and ruled out of the autism spectrum. The official diagnosis is SID. I'm glad the diet is helping him. Thayer is adorable!LOL
