I don't know how "knowledgable"--lol. I'm not a hairstylist (or particularly good at doing my own hair, for that matter); I'm just a hair freak, really.

With the extendtubes (and the hair, for that matter), the amount you'll need really depends on several factors, including the thickness you want, the length and thickness of your own hair, the length and thickness of the extensions hair, the size of your head, how far you're planning to go up on your head, the texture of the hair, and whether you're layering it or keeping it all one length.

As you know, those small-size tubes are tiny--they're best for the more visible areas of your hair, but obviously won't contain too much hair; the larger ones will hold more. 250 should be enough for your head, but it may take closer to 300. If 250 is what you have, just make sure to evenly space them out to make sure you have enough for all the sections, and you'll be fine.

The minimum amount of hair you'd need for an application, imo, is 4 ounces. This may be suitable if you already have long hair and are just looking to boost the thickness a bit and add a little (like a few inches) of length; it may also be OK if you're using shorter hair (like 12 inch) since you'll get a lot more actual hairs in 4 oz. than you will with longer hair like 24". That said, if you want a lot of length and thickness, I would shoot for 8 ounces. If you have hair leftover, great--it's better than not having enough.

Just one more thing about those small-size extendtubes. Although people usually recommend sectioning the hair in 1/4 sections for most applications, I would do them smaller with those. For the small size, I'd actually do 1/8 inch sections, and do 1/4 for the large size and with the mediums somewhere in between. I'm not sure if this is the best way (so you should get opinions from others, too, before you proceed), but I really think 1/4 inch section is too big for the small amount of hair a small-size extentube would contain.

Hair is generally sold by the 4 ounce bundle. So if you bought 2 wefts then you should have about 8 ounces of hair!
