The Best and Worst Hair of 2000

I don`t know if Jerky Flea is going to post a special year-end hair issue focusing on the best and worst of 2000, but I`m ready with mine. Critics will no doubt point out that many on my "best hair" list have long hair. I`ll save them the trouble.

Best Hair of 2000

1. Anna Kournikova - Saw her in person the other night. One word: Exquisite.

2. Gina Gershon - I wish they hadn`t canceled her new detective show, whatever it was called. Great hair... and lips.

3. Faith Hill - Her songs and her hair gave her a hair-raising year. They`re extensions, right?

4. Cindy Margolis - Her show deserves to be on during the wee hours of the night -- if at all. Her waistlength hair is one of the show`s redeeming qualities.

5. Lucy Liu - From the time she was in that sex scene with a fellow lawyer on Ally McBeal to her appearance in the Charlie`s Angels movie, Lucy`s hair rocks.

6. Penelope Cruz - Beautiful brunette actress who made her mark on the movie scene.

7. Sarah Brightman - I`m not sure how much of her curly, hip-length hair is her own, but I hope it all is. Her hair is almost as beautiful as her voice.

8. Beyonce, one of the members of Destiny`s Child - Her mother does her hair. Always looks great, no matter what style.

9. Mira Sorvino - The longer it gets, the better she looks.

10. Kathie Lee Gifford - I`m not kicking KLG while she`s down. I may be the only one in America who misses her... and her hair.

11. Hunter Tylo - I`m not sure what it looks like in person or in real life, but in the soap opera Bold in the Beautiful and on magazine covers, her hair completes her.

12. Debra Messing - Her hair helps bring Grace to Will and Grace.

13. Ana Gasteyer - Her natural hair got longer and curlier this year on Saturday Night Live. Not sure if she would make this list from any other person, but she`s on mine.

14. Katie Couric - I like the new length and the new color.

15. Jennifer Aniston (before the haircut) - I know lots of people didn`t like Rachel`s look on Friends, but I`ll be looking forward to the reruns.

Worst Hair of 2000

1. Celine Dion - Worst hair disaster since Keri Russell, my pick here a year ago.

2. Bai Ling - Role or no role, the close shave was a mistake.

3. Jennifer Aniston - I know her really long hair was filled with extensions, but what really was the point of this new haircut?

4. Calista Flockhart - Those short bangs were just goofy.

5. Joan Jett - She`d be higher on my list if I really cared.

6 and 7. Tie between models Kirsty Hume and Carmen Kass - They both wasted their gorgeous, waist-length hair with haircuts that were nothing special. Kirsty`s photos showing her cutting her own hair are a nightmare. Note that Carmen is appearing quite often in commercials of late -- but she still has long hair in the commercials!

8. Lauren Holly - Something told me that her long, gorgeous hair was filled with extensions, but she looked great. Then the ax fell.

9. Judith Light - After shaving her hair for some Broadway role, she`s wearing wigs in her infomercials. For good reason.

10. Courtney Thorne Smith - A pretty woman with an ugly haircut.

11. Jane Krakowski - Just saw her again on Regis. What was this Ally McBeal actress going for, anyway?

12. Kassie DePaivia - This One Life to Live star is getting rave reviews on her new look, but I like the "before" photos a lot better.

13. Rebecca Gayheart - Why she would let anyone cut even a hair of her gorgeous mane is beyond me, but she did.

14. Meg Ryan - She`ll never reach the status she had in Sleepless in Seattle, but apparently she`s trying with extensions. I don`t get it. Her hair generally looks like she just got up. Can that be a good thing?

15. Keri Russell - Sorry, I just can`t get over it.

I`m with you on the extensions thing...I think if its fake or not your own, it can`t be given credit in a top 10 list! (hehe)
However, I will concede that Faith Hill looked gorgeous with her waist length extensions!
Gord, have you seen her lately though, she has apparantly removed them because her hair is only to her shoulders now!! (Terrible SHAME)

One on my top ten would be Courtney Cox (did you forget her Gord?)
Her hair looks great on Friends, now she`s the one everyone will want to copy! (Anniston-cut-bad)

I could not disagree with you more about Madonna. Have you seen the new In Style with her on the cover? She looks amazing. Her hair is now only about to the top of her shoulders and looks great. You seem to be the only person I have ever heard say that she looks older than her age. She is 42. I hope I look half that good when I`m 42. And lay off Celine Dion. Her super-short hair is old news. Her hair has grown out now. I personally like medium shoulder length hair, not super-short or super-long. The worst hair I have seen has to be Christina Aguilera. Her hair is super long and all one white blond color. She should cut it a couple of inches and get highlights of varying colors.

5. KRISTINA ABERNATHY (HELMET HEAD - LOOSEN UP)

Another candidate for Worst Hair of 2000 - the singer Macy Gray. Unwashed, uncombed, uncared for - her hair should sue for damages.
