Let me be the first to tell the great news: The most beautiful girl in the world is now a short haired! The information is in her fan sites and came from a couple of diferent sources, all very reliables: NATALIE PORTMAN CUT HER HAIR SHORT,ABOUT EAR LENGHT!!!

I`m in heaven!! It`s a dream come true.

There`s no picture yet. I`ll be very greatful to anyone who get some.

I think it`s not 100% confirmed, but is with no doubt very good news. Natalie has the right face to use her hair very short, as Audrey Hepburn. She would be the perfect sample of a beautiful young girl with short hair.

Maybe JF can verify this, but I don`t believe it`s true. For one, I believe she is still shooting Star Wars Episode II. I think the stylists would have a fit with her doing that -- George Lucas wouldn`t allow it until they were done shooting. She has several scenes with elaborate hair designs.
But ... I could be wrong.

At least about this point you`re wrong. The filmings of Episode II ending in London about two weeks ago. Natalie is back to her college and is told that she has be seeing there with short hair. Though it seens there`s more than one source, it`s not completely confirmed by now.

If my memeory serves me correctly Natalie has had short hair in the past. In `The Proffessional` it was in a short jaw length/earlength bob with bangs - and she was one of few people who could actually wear that style and not look like they were stuck in a timewarp. After that I believe she cut it even shorter into a Audrey Hepburn / Winona Ryder/ Kate Moss pixie type cut - also looked great.

Although I prefer long hair , I must say that Natalie can pull off pretty much any style, so whatever she does - short of a 1980`s poodle perm will look good on her

I have seen many pictures of Natalie and I don`t remember one of her with a short pixie. I think she didn`t go so short before.

Maybe her present hair is a short pixie. I really hope so.

The Natalie Portman rumour (which I am convinced is true by now) originated from a shot like the one half way down this web page:

This is supposedly Natalie alongside Samuel L Jackson and some other Star Wars episode II dude. The picture is blurry but I can believe this. Also the hair is ambiguous but I reckon it`s a short, tucked-behind-the-ears bob which suits her well from what I can tell.
She is supposed to have cut it after filming episode II so I can only assume that this is her on set, in everyday dress, talking to the actors who have yet to film certain scenes.
It looks good. I just hope she gets out and about and gets photographed at some event or other before it has grown out too much.

That picture has nothing to do with the present news. It was taken during the fimings in september/2000 and caused a rumour in that ocasion. Her hair was only tied. After that Natalie was seen and photographed with long hair. She cut it short about just one or two weeks ago after the end of the fimings.

The "official" Natalie Portman fan page stated that she had shaved her head (ie, buzz cut) but they were only working on rumour as well.

Also, don`t forget that, (at least the majority of) Queen Amidala`s hair is a wig.
