I think you`re right. When I first looked the low resolution capture her hair seemed shorter to me than really is. However, is the shortest she is wearing in many years.

This is another discussion theme: when we can call "short" a haircut?

Yes, and a little shorter imediately after that movie. However, it was eight years ago. Since them her hair grew till may/2001 when she cut it next to the present lenght.

We can expect for more: according to the news, there will be a second part of "The Professional" with Natalie as a grown up Mathilda. Since it is impossible to think of Mathilda without the black short bob with bangs, Natalie surely will cut her hair again.
