ok... I was looking through pictures and saw that in forth grade my hair was PAST my shoulders! I was stunned lol.. I could never remember having longer hair!
Well, I`ve been through all the threads and posts again hair growing and so on. One of them said about your hair only lives for so many years.. and everyones is different. So if my hair was past my shoulders before.. I should still be able to grow it past my shoulders now.. right? MY hair genetics.. or years... (whatever) would have changed.. right??

Not necessarily...atleast about genetics changing. I have a friend, an no matter how hard she tries, her hair will not go past shoulder blade length. Genetics.
Different things have an affect on hair growth such as diet, medication, stress, overall health, etc.
Childbirth affects metablolism; broken bones affect growth depending on how and where the bones are broken....there are a lot of factors.
After I had cancer, my hair doesn`t grow nearly as fast as it used to. That is a good sign of medication and/or illness altering the body.
Some women can grow their hair several feet longer than they are tall. I believe it`s all genetics.
does that help? Trix

Amber, I always thought I couldn`t grow my hair past shoulder-length. It just never seemed to get longer once it reached that stage. Then I found a picture of me in sixth grade with hair halfway to my waist, so I knew it was possible. I realized that the reason it wasn`t growing was because I was getting too many perms and trims at crucial points. Also, I was in the Air Force, and putting my hair up every day really damaged the ends. Once I really committed to growing it and vowed never to perm it again, it took off. It`s now Classic length and still growing.
Speaking of genetics, another reason I figured it should be possible is because my mother`s hair ranged between waist- and classic-length from 15 to 24 years old.
20/42/as long as it will get 2b/Red

There`s alot of conflicting ideas about exactly how long your hair will grow. Alot of it has to do with genetics and the growth cycle of your hair, but I have yet to figure out how to determine that. They say that the average growth cycle for most is between 2-6 years. That basically means if your hair grows the average 6 inches a year, your hair will be able to grow between your bra strap and your tailbone. From what I`ve read, about 90% of all women can grow their hair to classic length (bottom of your bottom), but very few can grow it longer than that. There are alot of secondary factors in growing long hair, many of which revolve around how well you care for your hair and your general overall health.
I`m learning that I`m pretty lucky that my own hair grows about an inch a month in the wintertime, and about an inch and a half a month in the summertime regardless of the mental state I`m in or how well I`m eating. It`s one of those fishy genetics things. The biggest problem I`ve got with my hair is dryness. I am still on the lookout for the perfect conditioner. It seems to be liking St Ives at the moment, but that could change. I can use just about anything for shampoo (including Woolite, believe it or not, but I don`t recommend it), but when it comes to conditioner, my hair is so finickey that I`ve considered giving up conditioner entirely and using oils like vegtable oil, olive oil and jojoba oil on my length and ends.
1"/37"/42"+ to see how long it will get
My hair is almost to my knees (~50") and continues to grow longer. Rather slowly these days, but that's ok - it's still *growing*.
