QuoteReplyTopic: Need help with choosing length/ need help Posted: February 09 2002 at 1:08pm
I have been growing out a pixie cut since last summer and now have it at chin length with layers. My problem is that my face is on the small side and I am not tall and in the past when I have grown it out in the past it has become overwhelming because I have alot of hair. I want to grow it as long as I can without having it be too much for my small frame and face. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Susannah

Not totally sure I agree with Gord here, there is an `ideal` length for every woman, and that differs. I reckon that it will be `too long` for you when you feel overpowered, or if people start referring to you reather than your hair LOL

There is an article in the #16 issue of Cut & Style which is currently on newsstands thats titiled Face-Flattering Favorites. It shows an 8x10 photo of a lady with hair past her shoulders who has a face like you described yours. The hair style is long and very pretty. It has some light layering around the face and subtle highlights were added. I hope that helps you. Hang in there and keep on growing it long. Don`t let anyone talk you out of your hairstyle goal. If I see anymore articles about face shapes and long hairstyles I`ll let you know here in the message board. Good Luck.
I am also petite with very thick hair. What I recommend is to do long layers. That way you have length without the heaviness. I have the longest part down to my collarbone with layers varying from cheek length to chin length around the face.
Grow it as long as you can. It doesnt matter how skinny you are. I am 5`4 102pds. My hair is long. I love long hair, and i think it looks great on "skinny" people, even though it doesnt really matter what size you are. Either way it looks good. I say go for it :)

I`m not all that tall at 5`4" but I have found that having longer hair makes me look taller. As it`s grown out, the longer my hair got, the taller I looked. This actually is the opposite if you`re really tall, though. The longer your hair is, the more it balances out how tall you are.
1"/37"/42"+ to see how long it will get.
My hair is almost to my knees (~50") and continues to grow longer. Rather slowly these days, but that's ok - it's still *growing*.
