I`m growing my hair out and it`s finally getting long enough so I can do stuff with it! I was wondering about some hairstyles though.

My hair is dark blonde/light brown and past my chin in the back and layered a little, it touches the top of my t-shirt. In the front it`s angled a little towrds my face and also layered.

I`ll be 24 in June and starting grad. school. I just don`t want people to think that I look "odd" or something b/c I`m getting older and turning into a professional and wearing my hair a certain way. So, can you guys let me know what you think of these hairstyles?

1) I like to pull all my hair up in one of the claw type clips and have the ends in the back hang over the clip,
2) I also do this but only pull up the sides and the top section.
3) 2 french braids down the sides of my head.
4) 2 low pigtails that aren`t pulled all the way through the holder.

Thanks!!

I think I look good in all of these hairstyles, since I`m a senior in college now. I was just wondering if they were to "young" for a grad. school student and someone who was going to be doing an internship in the human services. I guess it`s kinda silly to be worried about my hair like that, but I want to make a good impression.

Oh- I wouldn`t wear my hair in those styles of a job interview, I was just thinking to my internship and school....

Thanks a bunch!!!

(Ps I`m posting this in the in the general hair section too, so no hate mail please! LOL)

Hi Lisa
I dont think that it it really the style you have, so much as the way you wear it that counts! Besides 24 is still way young enough to get away with whatever style you fancy and not be thought ridiculous LOL

Think about what you are going to wear, are you changing your wardrobe? If so do you need `new` styles to go with it?

All of your ideas sound great... Personally I think two french braids always looks great :-)

I am 25, have hair to almost the middle of my back, and am third grade teacher. I often wear my hair in two French braids. Some of the girls in my class love it and I`ve gotten compliments from some of the other teachers. I even saw a parent wearing hers like that one day.

Do them yourself, or get help?

I used to work in a college where one girl wore her`s in two french braids pretty much every day.

Sounds fine to me! These age related stereotypes are pointless. What you describe is nice
and neat, so why should you worry?

Note on jobs: for me, in a proper regular day job, I dont want to work anywhere where I
have to get all dressed up (including "business casual" - what a farce). But even if I did,
I`d resent any idea that they can regulate the way I wear my hair. There`s nothing rude
about pigtails, it`s just that some professional women feel they`ll be more professional if
they have their hair styled in a plastic "anchorwoman" style or just wear it short. And men
fear growing their hair ling in some industries. It`s stoopid and serves no purpose.

I have a friend who is 24, almost 25, and she always wears her hair in a braid. It is about down to her waist, and sometimes she even has two braids on the side. She looks good like that, and that is all that matters. For work she pulls it all up into a pretty bun, (She calls herself and old maid, lol) but she fits the part perfectly. it makes her more interesting, :o) But I wear my hair in a braid, (when it was longer) and you should wear your hair any way it looks good.

I agree, its how you look which counts, and your ability to `carry off` the style, rather than what is deemed `acceptable`. Here in the UK, `bunches` are in at the moment, and wheras once nobody female over the age of 10 would have been seen dead in them now they are all over LOL

Basically, if you look good in it, what do you care what other folks think :-)
