I need major help. I have natural brown hair which I have been getting colored auburn for some time now and I love it. Recently I went to my hair dresser and asked for blonde streaks. The first time the result wasn`t bad and I liked it but she had lightened my whole hair color and I didn`t like that. The second time I asked her to put the orginial darker auburn back in and keep the blonde streaks. But what ended up happening was that she covered the orginial blonde streaks with the darker color and just put new streaks in different areas which ended up looking like I had a layer of hair on top almost totally blonde and auburn underneath with almost bright red streaks where the blonde used to be. At first it was ok... not what I wanted but ok. I decided to go again but to a different girl. This time I got the second set of blonde streaks covered up with the darker auburn and had just chunks of blonde left in the front. It`s basically redder on top, darker auburn underneath with the brighter red streaks growing out and the blonde in the front. It looked ok, at first and I had compliments on it but it`s all fading and not looking so good now. I have so many different colors in my hair and I want to grow my hair out long but I`ll have all of these roots. I just want to get back to the orginial darker auburn all over and just forget the blonde streaks. What can I do to get back to that without having to wait for it all to grow out and getting it cut several times? It`s confusing I know! Does anyone have any ideas??

IF I WERE YOU I WOULD GET A SET OF CLIPPERS AND SHAVE YOUR HEAD, (YOU ONLY NEED TO DO THIS ONCE) SO THEN YOU DONT HAVE TO CUT IT SEVERAL TIMES, THEN LET YOUR HAIR GROW, DONT COLOR IT OR NOTHING, DEPENDING ON HOW FAST YOUR HAIR GROWS IT MIGHT BE TO YOUR SHOULDERS IN A YEAR TIME, SO TAKE THE PLUNGE , SHAVE YOUR HEAD, DARE TO BE DIFFERENT! - hAZZ

Oh my GOD! Don`t shave your head...GEEEEEEZ!!!!
You just need to find a hairdresser that knows what they are doing. I am sure the right person will be able to get your hair to basically one color...although personally I think it would look pretty cool with all the different colors..like highlights and lowlights...people pay a lot for that...I wouldn`t attempt to do anything yourself though...you might need to pay for a more experienced stylist..but the results will be what you want.

Thanks paprika!
I agree... I am definitely not shaving my head, I want long hair not no hair. I actually had my sister-in-law take a look at my hair over the weekend. She`s a hairdresser and her family owns a salon but unfortunately lives 5 hours and a state away from me. She told me she actually thinks the color I have now looks nice but understands why I might have a problem with the way I got to this point. I would love to have all the highlights and lowlights but instead of it all being mixed together nicely in my hair it`s like a layer of lighter color then a layer of darker color. But at least I don`t have green hair, or unhealthy hair. It`s just not what I had asked for and I spent good money to not get the specific style I wanted. I don`t want to waste anymore money. I did get some good suggestions over the weekend and at least now I will be able to explain to my new stylist exactly what I want, exactly what the problem is, and exactly how to do it so there is no misunderstandings.

To avoid these type of problems in the future, why not take a picture from a magazine showing the color you want. Sometimes if you just tell a hairdresser what you want, there are misunderstandings. Words like blonde, streaks, highlights can mean different things to different people.
