OK, I do have one thing to say for myself. At least it wasn't a regular Hairagami. I mean, those things are just glorified slap-wrap bracelets! I could never wrap my hair around that, and even if I could... those do's are just WEIRD!
Anyway, they had something at the drug store called Le Loom. It looked easy to use, but it's not! I'll try to describe it. It's like a ladder of snaping combs that hold your hair. You start at the top and kind of French braid down the ladder and in the end you have a herringbone braid, which is a hard style to achieve.
I was able to "braid" my hair down the Le Loom, but once I finished, it was sticking straight out from my head! What a mess.
A good idea in concept, but not in reality. At least it was only $3! But really, that's $3 too much.

Yeah, some of those hair contraptions like the Hairgami and some of the weird Scrunchi thingys look good in the package but just are bizarre in practice. I used to be a sucker for any new hair thingy like a Hairgami but have learned to stick to the basics like barrettes, scrunchies, pins and easy to wear stuff. Makes life less stressful. :-)
You are right! I think I will stick to the basics from now on. I did try something new about a year ago that I did like. It's called an accordian comb. I bought a few at a craft fair, handmade by the lady who was demonstrating them. It has 2 french twist combs, one on either side, that are connected with 2 elastics, covered in fabric, like a scrunchie. You put your hair into a bun, slide one comb under the bun on one side of it, and then stretch the elastic/fabric part over the bun, covering it, and you slide the other comb under the bun on the other side. When you're finished, the bun is covered almost completely with the fabric. One of my sensitive co-workers told me it looks like a diaper on the back of my head. She must be telling the truth, because she's normally a sweet person! Hair accordians are great when your hair is dirty and you just want to go out and not wash it or mess with it. It does look a little strange though. I only wear them when I don't care what I look like.
Oh, one other thing accordian combs do: You make a ponytail, slide one comb in directly above and behind the tail, wrap the elastic/fabric around the tail, and insert the 2nd comb behind the 1st one! Holds great and doesn't slide down at all like normal scrunchies do. Will hold all day! I do think it puts added strain on your hair however, because it holds kind of tight.
But about the Hairagami...I would return it, Lyris, except I bought it near my Grandma's house at a drugstore chain we don't have around here. Oh well. :( It'll be past the 30 days before I get back there.
