Hi, I just found out I have curly hair, kinda funny story. I always had puffy hair so I blowdryed it so that it would go strait, I recently found out that certain types of curly hair should not be brushed or they will go puffy. It rained one day and I didn`t brush my hair and when it dryed I looked in the mirror and found I have curly hair! its great though because I always wanted curly hair but being 13, never had the money to get it permed. Anyway I was wondering if anyone knew of some product that could give my curls more volume? I have quite thin hair and my curls are a little looser than most. Welcome aboard. The best thing to do, is to try to put a leave in moisturizer, (Oil moisturizer works good) If you don`t put alot of hairspray and gel in it, then wash it every 3 days to retain its moisture. But, condition it everyday, and comb it out CAREFULLY!! with the condtioner in. Let it drip dry, and try not to touch it after it drys. You know what that will do. If oil moisturizer don`t work, then try frizz-ease, or pantene settique spray for curly hair. Don`t put too much gell or hairspray in your hair, the more natural it looks, the better. Hi Welcome,
Again a lot depends on what works for you and your hair type. I personally highly recommend Vavoom and Matrix Amplify products. I think they are great for adding volume. Also, if you purchase a finger style diffuser and use it to lift and separate as you blow dry upside down, this will give added fullness and curl definition.
Remember to avoid using your fingers as much as possible since touching your hair when it is wet adds to the puffiness factors.
Finally, doing a cool or cold water rinse as your last step after you shampoo will help close the cuticle, add shine and help with a little added volume.
Another secret that people with curly hair don`t consider is that if your hair is not uniformly or tightly curled, you can use a curling iron to add definition and uniformity of your curls. Depending on the size of your curls that you want, select either a small, medium or large barrelled curling iron.
Please post often. We love to share info on all the boards here.
