Hi- this is my first post so I would like to say hello to everyone out there!

I want to do something very different to my chocolate-brown collarbone-length curly hair. I was first thinking of double processing it to a lighter shade of golden brown, but thought that might be either very damaging or very high maintenance/expensive...

Then I thought of highlighting it but that is also really pricey...

My question is, What are anyone`s recommendations? It`s a drab deep brown right now which I am SO sick of. Is double-processing really a bad idea? Should I highlight it at home with a light haircolor?

And, is it possible to go from deep brown to a coppery red WITHOUT getting it double processed? I am wondering what the results would be if I colored it at home with a copper color.

Ok, that`s all. THANKS!

Hi! I asked my hairdresser about colourings, as I have really dark brown hair and she said that the only way to do it would it would be to bleach and colour on top, or use a permeneant hair colour.
Sammy.

Try highlighting it yourself with a home hair color kit.
Try the Herbal Essence or Clairol Highlighting kits. If your hair is very fine, and tangles easy... do not use the cap. Try using foil and wrap the higlighted pieces.
When I used the cap it took me 5 hours to comb my hair out afterwards.
These never damaged my hair, and they put a nice light tone to your hair.
