Hi,
I am booked to get a spiral on Saturday. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who`s had one before for tips, etc. Feel free to email me at
lauren_a72@hotmail.com

Also, does anyone have tips for taming the perm smell since I know I won`t be able to wash for 48 hrs.
Thanks bunches,
Lauren in Fla.

if u want my advise: dont bother at all

unless u wanna regret it afterwards

and any tips....erm.....use frizz ease mousse/serum...deep condition ur hair atleast once a week....

just seriously, take it from someone who`s been there n done that, and even now still growin out me spiral perm: it didnt come out nothing like i wanted it to, i regretted it after a month, and for a year now ive just been growin it out waitin for my natural beautiful hair to come thru

my advise: work on ur own natural hair to beautify it instead of fighting with nature and trying to make it something it`s not.

sorry to be blunt but jus tryinna make ysee.

Unless your hair is already really frizzy don`t fear your perm!! I have waist length hair and have been getting it spiral permed for the last ten years and I get compliments on it almost daily! I love it and am totally happy with it, however it is a good idea the do the deep conditioning because the perm will make you more prone to frizzing especially in humid weather but it is NOTHING that can`t be controlled if you really want fabulous curls!!

Lauren, no need to fear getting a perm. BUT make sure your hair is in great shape before going in for the perm. Daily conditioning for at least week before, and I even used to stop using any heat products (hair dryer, etc) on my hair for the week or two before my perm. I`d always just try to get my hair as silky and healthy before going in. And then, I`d always end up with great perms, and get wonderful compliments on how natural my curls looked.

I haven`t had a spiral perm (my hair isn`t long enough), but I`ve had regular brick pattern wraps and "candlestick" wraps on various size perm rods over the years. I will say that on a few occassions the curls were a bit more than I might have been expecting!!! but in retrospect, I was asking for small springy curls and in a couple cases I was just a bit overwhelmed by just how curly my perm would turn out. But after a few days it was always well within the ballpark of what I wanted!

I don`t know if this helped at all, but I just wanted you to know that there are many of us out here with very positive perm experiences! ~;)
