HELP MEEE!

I thought Id save a buck, seeing that its getting close to Xmas and all, and I colored my own hair. My stylist usually uses permanent on my temples as they are gray, and vegitable natural coloring on the rest. My hair is very curly and dry. Well, It looks fine overall, but my grey temples took all of this pinkish red color and look so silly! My overall color is like a gingerbread brown. I used a level 2 thinking Id just go easy and save myself like a week or two from having to go in to my stylist. I think that my mistake was that I should have used a permanant color on the grey temples right?
Well is it safe to try to fix it at home. I do not want to go to work like this tomorow if I can avoid it. Thanks!
