QuoteReplyTopic: Curly Bobby Pins? Makup suitable for a guy? Posted: December 29 2004 at 1:44am
Hey, I have shoulder-length curly hair, and need to find better ways to shape it, while not making it obvious that I am using hair hardware.
A while back I heard about some sort of curly spring-like device designed for use in hair to hold it better. The idea is that these things would be invisible to the onlooker.
(I am also wondering if anyone has further recommendations on accessories that might be accepted [or not noticed] in a guy's hair)
I am also venturing out on a limb, but I often have acne problems. Might any of you have knowledge about makup designed to conceal acne, but be completely undetectable to scrutinous eyes? (i.e. makup for guys?)
Thanks a million!

Hi curlyguy, I don't know anything about accessories for curly hair, but I know I have some make-up advice. If you have a particularly nasty acne break-out (zits that are really painful, open or scabby) wearing no make-up is your best option. I've never seen a bad outbreak successfully covered. Make-up often makes it looks worse and draws more attention to the acne.
If you have minor outbreaks with red blemishes, you should try a green concealer. It sounds weird but it won't look green on your skin. Green and red are complimentary colours so they neutralize each other. Nothing works better for making red blemishes invisible. I think a number of companies make green concealer. Sally Hansen makes an inexpensive one that's available in drug stores.
Gently exfoliate your skin then put a little bit of water-based, non-comedogenic moisturizer on the area you're going to cover (this will help prevent the concealer from looking cakey. A lot of dermatologists recommend Aquarelle moisturizer for patients with acne.) Then smooth some concealer on. Make sure to blend it around the edges of the area you're covering. Then finish with a little bit of oil-free translucent facial powder to remove any shine. It should look natural; no one will notice you're wearing make-up. Make sure you wash it off before you go to bed. Sleeping with make-up on your face can exacerbate your acne.
P.S. I burned my forehead with a curling iron a few days ago, so I have a big red mark in the middle of my forehead. No one knows it's there but me because I've been using this method to cover it.
Good luck.
My user name is WAY too long. Just call me Juliana. :-)

Hey Juliana, I took you advice... and I can see why you like this stuff! It really works! I've been hesitant to jump right in to using it consistently, as my face is normally red. Thanks for the wonderful advice!
For that acne i've got the perfect solution! Get some pure (and i mean pure) Vitamin E oil and put it on those zits right after washing and mousturizing your skin (every night). Im so0o serious it works!! Hope i helped... let me know! ttyl!
