I like so many other women have curly hair, but its not the nice loose soft curls like sara jessica parker. I have tight, dry, coarse curls that used to just frizz up in any weather; and the next day the top would be curly and the bottom practically straight. Sound familiar? Well ladies I have finally found a hair regime that gives me curls that people have actually stopped me in the street to compliment. It took a lot of experimenting with different product and techniques but I have finally got it. I've managed to find the quickest and cheapest method that has given me soft, touchable and defined curls. It takes about 20 mins from soaking wet to out the door.
I have decided to share my experiences to hopefully save all you money and time. For me it starts with brushing my hair before I go in the shower (ie. when its still dry) that way its not tangled and I don't have to worry about it breaking when I try to comb it out in the shower.
Next shampoo and conditioner, now the line I have found I absolutely adore it makes my hair so soft and shiny, however it is expensive. It's a new line by joico called silk, however before I used this I used Pantene's Daily Moisture Renewal and it worked just find. Also once a week I like to use a clarify shampoo just to eliminate build up.
Next, I have found the best thing to happen to curls, it's Marc Anthony's Strictly Curls Maximum Repair Treatment, you use it after you condition and it's WONDERFUL! I don't know how I ever survived my curls without it (oh wait I didn’t).
After you're done with your shower routine and the water is still running (This is a very critical step in getting the perfect curls) flip your hair upside down and let the water run over it while running your fingers through it. Basically scrunch your hair using water until the curls look perfect soaking wet.
I then flip it back and put a towel over my shoulders to let my hair drip/air dry. DO NOT PUT YOUR HAIR IN THE TOWEL TURBAN! I let it dry while I wash my face and brush my teeth. Then I just pat it dry so its not dripping wet.
Now I use four products to style and finish my hair, I know this sounds like a lot but they are all under ten dollars and last a really long time. So it's not a huge investment.
First I put in Marc Anthony's curl defining lotion in on the top surface and then flip over my hair and run it through the bottom, while my hair is still flipped over I comb through it with a wide tooth comb (this helps to keep the volume).
Again, when my hair is still upside down I take a large amount of Marc Anthony's frizz control styling foam and scrunch my curls until they are well defined and the moose has been absorbed. Then I flip my hair back and do the same thing on top. I flip it upside down again and using less foam and repeat again.
Next using a ceramic hair dryer with a diffuser (it doesn’t have to be ceramic, but you HAVE to have a diffuser) dry your hair until it's completely dry, and make sure that when you are finished to go over it with the cool shot on (this helps a lot).
Once your hair is completely dry, take a small amount (about the size of a pea) of Marc Anthony's frizz sealing cream and run it over the top and bottom of your hair. Now if it's a rainy or humid day (ie. any sort of day that would turn my curls into a poodle puff) I like to use some hair spray. The best one that I've found is Aussie's Mega Styling Spray in Flexible Hold. This is the best one to keep your curls from frizzing, while at the same time not making it insanely crispy, plus it's the best smelling one I could find.
And you’re done! Now as for me I don’t like washing my hair everyday, hell, if I can get even another day on top of that I will. But this means your hair needs to be presentable over this time. For me the best way to ensure the appearance of my curls for following day I put my hair up in a loose ponytail over night. This helps to prevent the curls on top from frizzing. Now sometimes this cause the curls underneath to straighten, so I invested in a curling iron ($20) and problem solved it also helps if any of the curls on top have become unruly. By not washing your hair everyday, you’ll ensure that your hair will not become too dry or damaged.
I know this looks like not only a lengthy article but a lengthy process but trust me it's not. Hopefully, my experience and words of wisdom will help you to embrace your curls like I finally have.

I would love to use that process...if only it weren't with all of that extra writing. Could you please rewrite that article with steps without the explaining. Maybe you could write it step by step instead of explaining what you did. (i.e. Step 1:... Step 2:..., etc.) That would help a lot. Thanx!

I did what you told me and I was shock to see that it actually worked. Many people, epecially my mom, complimented me about my curls. Thought I did use different products, I still did what you said about the shower. It is amazing. Thought I did get my frizz back, but that was when I got home. Plus it was rainning, so that kind of helped with the frizz. But thanks for the tips.
