QuoteReplyTopic: Long Hair Causing Hair loss? Is this possible?? Posted: April 01 2002 at 11:58am
Okay, let me try to explain this as best I can. My hair is just past my waist. I am black, but I am mixed with both American Indian and Caucasian so my hair texture is really weird. It is very thin and wavy.
Lately, I have noticed that one side of my hair seems to be thinning. Now, I know baldness runs on my father`s side of the family so could this just be hereditary or could the length of my hair be the problem? I just want to be sure that keeping my hair long is not causing my hair to come out easily because it is so thin.
Just to give you some idea, when i comb my hair or wash it, I don`t have just broken hair coming out. I have entire strands of hair coming out.
Any ideas or suggestions?

First, wearing your hair long does not cause it to fall out! Now, as for the thinning on one side... do you treat the hair equally gently on both sides? Are you wearing a purse/bag/backpack/etc predominantly on one shoulder? Do you sleep mostly on that same side? Are you taking hair vitamins including MSM? Some things to consider... hope this helps.
