hi,

When I was in college my roommate kept her hair in a waist lenth single braid, which she did herself. I went the shorter look for a long time and decided I don`t like it and am growing my hair long (bra strap length to start, to my waist or rear ultimately.) Right about now it`s about 3 inches beyond the shoulder, just long enough and have it look nice :).

Is braiding your hair long term okay for letting your hair grow? If anyone keeps her hair in a long braid, what is braiding all that hair like.

Hi

I used to know a woman with hair past her hips who wore it braided every day. I didn`t seem to affect it, and it was getting longer so it didn`t stop it growing LOL

She didn`t braid it very tightly though, so maybe that helped. I don`t know how long it took to braid it, or how hard it was.

Hi,

Keeping your hair in a braid, if it is not too tight as mentioned above, can actually give your hair a rest from the wear and tear of daily life. As an example, when I wear my hair down, it gets caught in all sorts of things from my clothes to my car door. When I wear my hair in a bun or braid, it has less risk of getting caught and thus pulled out. So it can actually be a good thing. Also, the less you disturb your hair the better chance it has to grow and get healthy.

Best wishes,
Karen

hi again

I went out and had someone who knows what they are doing braid my hair, she`ll teach me how to do my own as we go.

I like it a lot. my hair is long enough that I can pull my braid over my shoulder and it hangs to my collar bone, and she left enough hair framing my face that it looks like a pixie cut from the front. Well I liek it.

We`re going to try some other styles after washings so eventually I`ll find a style I`ll stick with lol. but so far i like this one cute and low maintainance, a nice combonation in my opinion.
