a handful is way too much you would have to wash your hair everyday imagine sweating with all that pomade in your hair it would not be nice,anyway i use the tips of my fingers on each side of my head it works for me

dime size or nickel size amount for me...too much will have too strong of a hold on my hair and won't allow my "curls" to stretch out as much
