My g/f is black/islander descent and is mixed with various ethnic backgrounds such as Indian and Chinese which makes her hair think and naturally straight.
I am wondering, does thinner hair braid easier than thicker, coarser hair? She has had her hair braided many times but when she takes them out sometimes her hair breaks and must cut it to even it up. They also give her headaches sometimes but she knows I love them so she will braid it for me when I ask.
She is going to braid them again soon as for the moment her hair is its natural length, past her shoulders, and curled. I was wondering, how long has anyone had their braids or seen other`s hair braided? When she braids hers she goes all the way and gets small box braids past her bum.
Anyone seen knee length braids? Just curious, thanks!

Hi, Nick
First things first:
It doesn`t matter if hair is thin or thick or coarse to braid.
Since she gets braids past her (bum), that is the problem with her getting headaches. It basically means that the hair is too, heavy on her head. She can try to have the hair shoulder length or maybe bra length to help prevent headaches.
I braid hair and I notice that synthetic hair is too, heavy for me to wear. I prefer to braid my hair with Human hair. It`s not that heavy and I use that more often.
Second:
It depends on the type of hair used and the hair style that will determine how long braids can stay in.
Synthetic hair can last up to 3 months. Since she gets small box braids it can last up to 3 months. It depends on the hair. Synthetic hair last up to 3 month and can be washed and conditioned. You have to make sure that it is dryed properly to prevent mold. Oh, yeah, I said mold.
Human hair can last up to 2 months, because it`s softer. This hair can not be washed or conditioned because the hair will begin to fuzz and it will ruin the hairstyle completely.
I suggest that your girlfriend try using human hair and not having the hair braided so long.
If she wants them long, she may need to find hairstyles where she can pin up the braids.
