I am trying to grow my hair out. I have been told to moturize my hair everyday. I wrap my hair once a week and wear it bumped. Is there a moturizer I can use that will not mess up the wrap?

I don`t know, Pink lotion is too watery and makes my hair flat, limp and lifeless. You only need to wrap your hair once a week and it holds the bump? How do you do that?

Demi, did you ever try Soft Sheen`s Optimum Break thru moisturizer or a salon-based moisturizer like Premium`s Oil Moisturizer? (The best are salon-based in a cream lotion or spray).

Actually I recently bought the Break thru moisturizer but it was to heavy on my hair so I stopped using it and then I realized that it contained a lot of mineral oil which I heard was bad for our hair and someone else told me that it made their hair gather lint *yuck*

Different products works differently on every hair, if you want to opt for a spray moisturizer like Moisture Dew by Cathy Howse, her website is http://www.ubhpublications.com
Or look into products by http://www.nubiannaturals.com
(Suggested by Sherronda)
http://www.biostrand.com
http://www.jazma.com
http://www.dudleyq.com
(Dudley Products)
http://afrohair.com
http://alternative2.home.mindspirng.com
(suggested by Renee`)
http://www.aveda.com
When looking for a great moisturizer make sure the first ingredient is water, and there are products without mineral oil if you prefer.
I hope you find the right moisturizer for you!

I would suggest trying a natural product. Shea butter mixtures are great and light. You only need a little. My favorite is Ebene Naturals shea butter hair and scalp conditioner found at http://www.ebenenaturals.com. I use this and I also use other light natural oils. Also ebene naturals hair regenerating oil, I use this as a light hair dress.

You can also just look into using a lot of other natural oils, not necessarily the brand I mentioned. Jojoba oil is a great natural oil and can be used alone or mixed with other natural oils such as olive oil, sunflower oil and almond oil. http:www.fromnaturewithlove.com has Great prices on oils. You can but them seperately and make your own mixtures.

You can tell a big differance between natural oils and synthetic, or mineral oil petroleum based oils and products. One, they don`t weight your hair down or make your hair look greasy while naturally conditioning and treating your hair.

I say give these natural oils a try, I use it on my relaxed hair and don`t have to worry about not having movement or body to my hair. I suggest putting some in your hair whil its wet before styling, and you only need small amounts.

Hope that helps.

I find that Nutriment Rx Creme Hairdress by Design Essentials is the best moisturizer I have tried so far. Most of the moisturizers I have tried weighed down my thinned out/fragile overprocessed hair, but Nutriment Rx is very light and gives my hair a wonderful sheen, plus it keeps my hair from getting brittle. It does not weigh down my wrap or take away the body. You can find it online at www.designessentials.com.

Try safflower oil (got the tip on this website from mike Trobee) on $2.49 from the health food store and a medicine drop dispenser and add a few drops to your hand. Believe me it gives you pleanty on moisture and it does not weigh your hair down. You may also want to try the heatcap (www.heatcap.com), it is great and your can roll your hair in the mornings with big rollers, use the cap and viola, a very healthy wrap. Trust!!
