My Hair will not grow! No matter how much I try, it will never grow. I keep it clean, I try to keep it trimmed and I use alot of chemicals that say that they can make your hair grow, but my hair didn`t grow. My hair is getting shorter and shorter from trimming and breaking off. The shorter it gets the harder it is to deal with. I can`t wear any styles cause they fall out or they won`t fit with my hair length or texture. I am fed up with my hair!!
Dear Tanna Your hair is badly damaged and that it is why it is breaking off. You need a complete programme in getting your hair back in growing order. Your hair is growing, but it is breaking so fast, that it is impossible to see the growth, your hair cannot retain its length, hence you say it is not growing. First of all go and get your hair braided, make sure that the braids are not too tight and keep them in at least for two months, in the meantime, make a massage scalp of evening primrose oil, a small amount of castor oil, extra virgin oil and put some drops of Rosemary essential oil, put at least about 10-20 drops and rub on your scalp and massage your hair, rinse your hair with a mixture of glycerine, rosewater, bottled water if the water in your area is hard) on a daily basis, you need a lot of moisture, after 6-8 weeks, take out your braids and go and get the damaged part cut off and leave out for 2-3 weeks, deep condition and apply braids again. You also need to get a good supplement, eat lots of dark green vegetables, make sure you eat lots of chicken, fish, soya protein and take good supplements which help you improve the strength and the growth of your hair. I also would suggest you visit websites like www.growafrohairlong.com, www.longhaircareforum.com, www.nappturality.com, the first two sites are dedicated to growing afro hair long, nappturality.com is good, there are a lot of ladies who will help you transitition stage from relaxed to natural and there is a lot of information of hair styles etc. I also think, it would be best to stop using chemicals for the time being, until your hair is a lot stronger. Maybe if you still need to use a chemical, you use a very mild one. Black hair can grow to very long lengths, but it is extremely fragile and it breaks very easy, once you learn how to look after your hair probably, you will be amazed how fast your hair will stop growing, within a year or even less you can mid length hair. I hope that helps you. Also trim your hair every 2-3 months, once you learn to look after your hair probably, you will find you need to trim your hair even less about twice a year, because you won`t have a problem with split ends. There are lots of good hair vitamins you can take to ensure that you have good healthy strong growth, such as Andrew Lessmans Healthy Hair skin and nails, Hair Formula 37, Hairtopia, Ultra Hair, Nourish Hair etc, I hope that helps. All the best

In addition to what the person said before me, you should drink lots of water. People are supposed to drink 6-8 cups of water a day. If you start to do this, you will see a big improvement on your hair growth. It makes your hair stronger, and then your hair wouldn`t break of so easily. Also, I don`t know if you blow dry your hair, but when ever you wash your hair, let it air dry. That will also make your hair stronger. I agree with the person before me, to stop using all of the chemicals. I am assuming that you perm your hair. African Americans are always worried that their hair cannot grow, but it can. Perm is no good for your hair. After a while your hair starts dropping out badly. If you want your hair straight, I would suggest you press your hair. Buy some hot combs and but a half hot comb in your hair to make it look better. Me personally, I have been pressing my hair all my life, and it is healthy, and it grows. I have never put a perm in my hair, and I don`t plan on doing so. I do drink 8 cups of water a day, and it doesn`t only help my hair, but my body as a whole. I hope this helps.
I think you should lay low on the chemicals and wash and condition your hair every week. Another thing you can do is get your hair braided. When my hair is braided it grows up to 1 inch in 3 weeks.
The thing for yoiu is to get your hair healthy again. Start using cholesterol conditioner on your hair. Actually follow this regimen for 6 months and come back to the board.
First: wash your hair with creme of nature shampoo
Second: put a holesteroal conditioner in your hair and leave it on for 2 hours.
Third: Rinse it out and let it air dry, or sit under a dryer. (do not comb or brush your wet hair, it will break off)
Fourth: Once the hair is completely dry pour a small amount of vitamin E in our hand and rub it over hair. If your scalp is dry part and put oil on scalp.
Fifth: Braid it UP!!!! Leave it braided for 1 1/2 to 2 months.
Sixth: Take care of your braids. I find that your hair can get dry and brittle, use Righton spra moisturizer. You can use Olive oil, any kind of Oil. WASH YOUR HAIR WEEKLY!
Seventh: Do not put grease in your hair because when you do, with braids, you go to take them out, your hair falls out, or it can even lockup, which causes you to pull your hair out.
Finally: Don't perm your hair for six months.
Most importantly, KEEP YOUR HAIR CONDITIONED!!

I have been using Aubrey Organics products for the past five years, and they have helped my hair to achieve good growth.... Just an idea...............
remember to be kind to your hair when you sleep. sleep on satin or anything that slides, which will keep your hair from rubbing and therefore, breaking off. that helps a lot if you are a side sleeper. also, do the same thing if you do braid your hair. the most important thing is to treat your hair with the utmost gentleness. most people think that african-american hair is strong because kinky or very very curly is associated with being "strong" or resilent. actually it needs careful and delicate care. keep any chemical treatments (perms if you must), coloring, etc. to an absolute minimum.
my hair seems to grow really fast(im 3c4ab mix, shortish hair, just finished transitioning)when i rinse it every other day and inbetween condition w/ eo's chamomile & honey conditioner.I also deep condition every 2 wks. or so with honey and olive oil or cholesterol. My hair grows about 1 1/2 in. a month but im still perfecting my routine!
I use creme of nature and have used it for years now....I usually switch shampoos because they say u should. Do u know of another good moisturizing shampoo like creme of nature?? please let me know or anybody out there who reads this..thank so much
