try doing a braid/twist/knot out with your hair

Braidout: Braid your hair (cornrows or individuals) either wet or dry and unbraid. Cornrows work best for me.

Twistout: Same as braid out with flat twists or individuals.

Knotout: Make buns all over your hair (I use 8) preferable when wet and let it dry.

The Twist/Knotout will give you more of a curly appearance, and the braidout will give you more crinkles. You have to experiment with the products that you use to get it to come out right. HTH.
