QuoteReplyTopic: color/hair straightening Posted: August 07 2004 at 2:08am
Im half african american/half white but i have very curly african hair. I relaxed my hair a regular basis without any problems but dyed my hair about a year ago and then a few months later colored it again with blonde highlights. About a month or two after I got a relaxer and most of the highlights broke off and my hair has been growing extremely slow ever since. It is very short on the top (about as long as my eyes) and I want to color and style it again in about a month because Im very unhappy with my natural color (which is jet black) and because I have roots a few inches long. I was wondering if anoyone knows any products that straighten hair temporarily or permanently that can be used with color and are not relaxers because they seem to make my hair break off when its colored. Also if anyone has any tips to make my hair grow faster it would be greatly appreciated. If you can help me please e-mail at young_and_hopless69@excite.com THANKS

Well try hot oil treatments and deep conditioning to help your hair recover from the damage. The only temperorary straightening is getting your hair pressed but most things that alter a part ofyour hair is permanent, maybe you should try a semi permant hair dye, it does not penetrate into the hair and it should not be as harmful. But you need to work on the condition of your hair before you put dye and perms in it.
