QuoteReplyTopic: Cornrows - I Don't Get It. Posted: September 01 2004 at 2:25am
Does anyone know How come my Cornrows got so messy and frizzy-looking within only a few days of me having them? I have fully African curly hair, I combed my Afro up and got rid of all the knots and stuff just before My friend's Sister started to cornrow it, but still, within just 1 week it was so messy that I took them out. I wore a Du-Rag to sleep, and used Gel to keep the friziness down, but it still was easily noticable, and began losing it's cornrow look. I wore a Shower-Cap when I Showered, except for once during the week when I washed them... So why only 1 week? I thought they're supposed to stay in for about 3...
Also, after I took my cornrows out, My hair was rather straightened and loose, I liked it like that, but within a day or so (I washed it the next morning also), it was Almost as fully curly as my Natural hair is without combing, not hanging or loose at all... Why is this also?
Thanks to people that try to help answer my questions. Peace Out, Miatch.

Your hair ended up straighten because you somewhat stretch your hair when you braid it. It is not going to stay that way after you wash it because your hair went back to its natural state that it was to begin with. I don't know why your braids looked a way they did.

i used to ahve cornrows- it depends who does them..maybe you need to get somebody better-no offence to your friend because that was my experience. do they look absolutly perfect like the celebs when she has finished because if its even a little frizzy when she has finished that may be why.
Also try ahve lots of small braids to start-even better put them in a pattern, i found they lasted longer that way.
Finally maybe you shoudl use a little extentions in there as well because that help me to.
p.s i have soft curly hair and was fine goodluck

i don't think you're supposed to wash them with water. you should use a latherless shampoo cleanser or just try using something like witch hazel or aloe vera gel in the parts to absorb extra oils.
be careful... life is bitter sweet. we are living in a world of hate
Yeh Black-Star, after they were done they looked good as, absolutely no friziness and they were in perfect line and everything. I don't think I need extensions...
ive been looking and looking and looking for websites with corn row styles, does anybody kno any websites with pictures of different designs and patterns
AYO MIATCH.. IT WAS FRIZZY CUZ U WASHED THEM...REALLY.. UR SUPPOSED TO LEAVE CORNROWS IN FOR 2 WEEKS..
