What has been the one piece of advice you've given or that was given to you that has helped with your hair care??

THe best advice I ever received was to stop using products with petroleum and mineral oil in the ingredients. I put this to the test and noticed a huge difference in my hair. Three years ago my hair was dry, hard and just awful. I had to chop it up above my ear. Now, my hair is thick soft, moisturized and is alittle passed my shoulders. I love it!!

While this isn't true for everyone for me it was stop using heat styling tools (no blow dryer, flat iron, curling wand, etc).

Now that was like a miracle for the condition of my hair. No more clumps of hair all over the bathroom and no more dry, brittle straw hair.

Oh how I wish I had understood this a couple of decades ago!!!!

My best hair care advice:

Be careful if you continuously wear pony tails or up dos. They can pull on your hair excessively causing it break and thin in layers.

Braids are protective and convenient but make sure that they are not too small or too tight because they can cause breakage and thinning…especially at the hairline.

Do not let your hair or scalp dry out. For some, this means that you must moisturizer every day.

Your hair will become stressed and prone to breakage from too much tinkering or exposure to elements, styling tools or products just as we do.

Love and care for your hair and youself. Thank God that you have it however or whatever it may be.

Nope, I relax it. I was at every 10 weeks but I am going to wait for 13 weeks until my next touch up.

get rid of those mineral oil and petroleum products. Try a variety of product lines until you find what works for you. Use natural products such as tallow, mango butter, avocado butter, shea butter, cocoa butter and sal butter. Baggie method works great and pretreat you hair prior to shampooing.

I did my first ACV rinse last weekend and that was a very good experience, so I think I am going to start pretreating before I 'poo. I am reading too many good things about it everywhere from people with all types and lengths of hair.

Apple Cider vinegar is great on hair. I have used it as a pre and post with good results. It made my hair shiny.

My best advice is to deep condition regularly, use gentle shampoos and use leave in conditioner and oils. Also, airdrying most of the time does wonders.
