I hate my hair. I don't want to get another perm because it makes my hair break off. Does anyone know what i could do to make my press with the hot comb just as good as getting a perm/relaxer?

thank you

I don't know how hot combs work lately. My grandmother used one on my hair before I got it relaxed, but that was over 15 years ago. *shrug*

Try this link, it might be of use to you. :) http://www.freshlookhair.com

You need to use the right products . I use a pressing oil or cream along with a heat protectant. I also only press (I use a flat iron) after washing and deep conditioning. I only do it every week or two and not everytime I wash my hair. However, I don't have any chemicals in my hair so you should be careful not to over press your relaxed hair.

I recently discontinued the use of relaxers in my hair. Now, I just use a moisterizing shampoo and conditioner on my hair then I use a flat iron (made of glass).

Have you tried Gold n Hot curling irons? They are the only ones that get superhot enough to straighten my nappy hair texture smooth and I only have to use a medium heat setting (level 5 out of 10 settings). Stretch out your hair first with twists or braids in maybe 10+ sections and let your hair dry in the looser pattern.

It's unfortunate that you have given up on learning to love and care for your natural hair.

Good luck and blessings
