About a year ago I read on a website about a natural hair relaxer you can do at home. I'm not sure of the site, the name escapes me at the moment, but this is what it was:
First you use either coconut milk or whole milk and sit it in an uncovered glass in the refrigerater. Supposedly, it gets a film over the top after a few hours and that film is skimmed off into the bowl. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe it is mixed with alittle olive oil and line juice and put on your roots with a plastic cap covering it. Some women reportedly put a heating cap over their heads for about 45min to an hour and them washed it out. I would imagine the lime juice to be very drying so a good moisturizing poo and cond. is used afterwards.
It's been a while since I read about this, but one of the women swore by it saying it was a natural way to loosen up her curls and in many cases relax the hair. I'm not sure how long this treatment would last or how often you would have to repeat beacuse I haven't tried it myself. But I was wondering if anyone has tried this themselves. I'll try to find some info on it.
2 green limes (Don't use more than 2 limes this is a catalyst and can dry the hair) 1-2 cans coconut milk (depending on thickness and length of hair) honey avodado oil or favorite oil Instructions: 1. Put the coconut milk, limes, honey, and oil into a bowl.
2. Then mix well, you can vary the amount of honey whcih will make your hair more moisturized. One day before you will use mixture, and let it sit in the refrigerator until needed.
3. You will only be using the creme part that separates form the juice.
4. Section hair into 4 parts, smooth from root to ends, work through like hair colour.
5. Put on a platic cap and sit under a heat cap or hair dryer that works best (30 min). You can also just let it sit for more time with no heat under the cap (1-2hrs).
4. Rinse well, condition if needed with a thick moisterizing conditioner.
I have heard of women skipping the lime juic and adding more oils to the mix. I think I may try it.

I thought you was talking about a product called Copa that straightens and softens natural hair--like an alternative relaxer but it's organic and lasts for about a month or so.

I read about this on a relaxed hair care website. It sounds like a natural deep conditioner. There is a huge obsession with relaxing/loosening natural black hair.
Hello, The Bodiphier natural relaxer that Jasmine2g3 has a link to in her post is the best! I have been posting about it until I am making myself sick! It's just that I know how long and hard I searched to find a good, product that really works! I stopped using regular relaxers over 10 yrs ago and could get by with just a blow dry and curling iron. Well, except on rainy days and humidity.
I tried Copa, I thought it was a too weak waste, I noticed no mentionable difference. Tried Naturalaxer, I think it made my hair too dry.
Then I stumbled on to Fresh Look's Bodiphier, and I can't stop raving about it! It's natural enough that you don't need gloves, or neutralizer shampoo. Apply using your hands, leave on 20-30 mins. Shampoo & conditioner come in the kit.
Ok, so on my 3b hair it comes out with a looser curl pattern- I don't comb the Bodiphier through, I just smear it on the new growth, and wrap in a warm towel for 20-30 mins. I can either air dry for a curly look, or blow dry. Two of the best things for me are that I can blow dry and add curl by using Caruso style rollers, so there is no heat! This has allowed me to eliminate about 75% of the heat I would use on my hair and virtually retire the curling iron.
Second best thing, the hair doesn't frizz in humidity or light rain. Yep the end of puffy, frizzy hair! That's how I can now style my hair with the Caruso rollers- they use steam and are slightly damp when you put them in. Before this product, my hair would frizz if I used them.
So, I've used the Bodiphier three times now, about five to six weeks inbetween applications. I still deep condition weekly. But have no complaints, no breakage, change in color (i.e. red ends).
Check out Jasmine2g3 s link included in her post above. You can also do a Google search for Fresh Look Bodiphier. I think their direct link is www.freshlookhair.com. It will change any hair type it is applied to regardless of of how straight, wavy, or curly. Keep in mind if you are used to bone straight or stick straight hair with no wave left in it, this product will not give do it. You will need to blow dry, roller set, curl iron, or wrap your hair to achieve straight results.
