I've decided to finally try mayo in my hair. But it smells bad what do I do to get the smell out? I'm going to use mayo, honey, and olive oil mixed in with my conditioner. I put a little vanilla in to hide the smell.

I usually just rinse it out and then put in a regular conditioner for a few since the mayo can be drying. I haven't noticed the smell afterwards but maybe I overlooked it. What kind of vanilla do you use?

Oh no don't tell me vanilla is bad for your hair. It wasn't real vanilla just imitation vanilla or something the normal stuff you cook with.

You aren't supposed to leave it on your hair. Put the mayo (not miracle whip or fat free) on your hair and leave it on for an hour. Then shampoo and condition with your normal conditioner. You don't need to mix it with honey or olive oil. I think there is a good bit of alcohol in vanilla extract, even imitation, so I wouldn't put that in my hair either. The shampoo will remove the smell of the mayo.

My family has been doing mayo for ages and we just shampoo and condition normally and the smell comes right out. But make sure it's plain mayonnaise.
