Help! I'm 14 I live alone with my father I have coarse short AA hair.I don't know what to do with it I can't comb it because of new growth. I 'm afraid to perm it. My Dad has 'good hair' so whats good for him isn't good for me.My hair line is horrible but my father insists on me getting it cornrolled. What should I do? I have no clue how to take care or style my hair! Help me please!
Why are you afraid to relax it? Have you had poor results with relaxers in the past?
Check this out: http://www.freshlookhair.com. Shoot the webmaster an email or two, they should be able to tell you if this would be good for your hair.
Also, you might want to consider a high quality flat iron. A lot of people on the Straightening Board are getting good results with the True Ceramic Pro, and Sedu, Solia, and Chi Turbo are all good buys as well.
Talk to some hairdressers in your area as well and see what they recommend for your type of hair. Thyio relaxers have worked well on my coarse hair.
Good luck :)
Make every day you have count, before the time comes for you to count every day you have.

may i suggest condition washing daily with a cheap conditioner such as aussie knot forgotten. then at nite moisturizing with elasta qp's mango butter moisturizer. Tie your hair up with a satin or silk scarf at nite or apply a thin processing cap for added moisture. Shampoo and deep condition you hair weekly- aussie products work great and are inexpensive. Use cholesterol as your deep conditioner once a week after shampooing and rinsing the shampoo out, apply the cholesterol-apply a thin plastic processing cap on your head and sit under a bonnet or hard dome dryer or a heating cap for 30-45 minutes. this should help.
Me and you, your cousin and your momma too rollin on da strip on bow's
And leave the cornrows alone. In fact leave braids alone period until your hair recovers. i would wait at least six months to a year before any type of braiding and then it should be box braids not cornrows. Make sure that they are not done tightly and your eyeballs are not pulled back. Moisturize them daily to 2 times a day.Treat your hairline with some type of temple balm- people at sally's should be able to help with a particular brand or peppermint oil and scalp massages.

I agree with Caramel...it is your hair and you know if your hair is healthy or not. You have come to the right spot.
Everyone has good hair, good hair is not determined by texture but by the health of your hair. Since u have alot of new growth, I would recommend that you comb your hair with a wide tooth comb while moist or damp. Stay away from braids, they can encourage breakage especially on brittle, damaged hair and make sure to deep condition it to make it stronger. Make sure u have a proper diet, with lots of protein, fish, eggs and of course eat the veggies and drink water. Healthy hair comes from inside.
